I wish I had something more than stock and quite a bit less than air horns....something worthy of a Raptor.

I did a horn similar to this on before I wanted to go over the top. Much better then stock, but nothing like a train horn. Easy to install. I remember the one I had was a little deeper.

I am thinking about ordering the other 2 horns to make mine a K5. I was thinking it would be cool if I could put them on a 2nd valve with a 2 or 3 second delay, that was I can use the first 3 horns for a short blast or if someone is really in the way, the other 2 will turn on after a few seconds for pressing the horn.

That is definitely a move in the right direction. Texas law states that the sound level must be reasonable and therefore, doesn't state whether 135db is acceptable. That being said, it looks like one of those areas in the law for individual interpretation.

Just thinking out loud, I wonder if covering the opening with some type of cloth would lower the sound levels and give it more "throat"?

Ahhhh I was not going to mention the fact that the insurance company that they will not cover an accident that they cause with the horn. Will also get the snot sued out of them.

Lighten up a bit, Francis. That's like saying, "I hope you get a ticket for speeding, because your truck can do over 65 mph." As with anything if the horns are used in the right setting and not abused, no one should be getting annoyed or upset. Good Lord, half the people on this forum would get tickets between overly loud exhausts or illegal lighting. Its all in how you use the tools you own. :big_banana_Dance:

I like having the super loud horn. It makes me think twice about using the horn. I use it all the time for fun when no cars are around, but almost never use it at someone. The last time I used it at a car, they ran a red light after it had been green for several seconds for me... They would have hit me if I took off fast.

Got to love the internet. Talked to my LEO buddies I eat breakfast with every day---bring your horn here and use it. They will have a little surprise for you.

If you blow that horn and it causes someone to pull into traffic and cause an accident YOU will be charged and depending on the circumstances taken to the Grey Bar. The comparatives drawn about are reflective of either the inexperience of the poster/driver, arrogance because they think it makes the truck seem “bad ass” to them, or possibly they are just stupid and no I did not say ignorant. Takes all kinds but just know if you are cited and are dumb enough to post about it here I will be the first to post the ***** on the thread. Lights are also a good way to be pulled over and if the officer is a real pain can keep your vehicle from operation

People who use train horns on a vehicle given the right circumstances will be looking at jail time and rest assured that there will be no mercy shown by the court in that situation. Also, fyi the LEO’s that I spoke to about this shall we say hmmmmm how to put this---will be looking at Everything on and in the vehicle for other violations. All of the people who I know who are serious about having a capable off road vehicle see the train horns as something for the street queens or snot noses lol.

If you do not believe me about the ramifications please by all means check with your Counsel.

Oh Lord, it's obvious we really don't care and we're not *********....

FYI my step-dad is a retired State Police Sargent. To say the least he's extremely good at giving lectures to me for past 20 years.... If it was THAT big of a deal, I guarantee he would have given me a lecture. Or maybe he just knows I'm not a ******* and when to and not to use it.

Good point---maybe he just gave up... Ask him what he would do if you blew that thing caused a car to jump into traffic and someone injured or killed as a result?

Please post what he says.

Wish your step dad was a Lawyer--then he could explain what would happen AND how much it could cost you. Remember insurance is not applicable here.

Anyway nothing I say will make any difference---people do stupid things everyday.
