if i know my pan is leaking oil i wouldn't drive it this distance and tow with it personally.
what if the rest of the liquid gasket gives way and it leaks more, that would be horrible

Agreed. I did think about that, but didn’t see it happening. It would be my luck though. Looks like I’ll be taking my dads truck! I just needed one opinion here...

Well it went to the dealership today. Told me they need to replace the liquid gasket between the oil pan and motor and didn’t have any of the “high performance” stuff specified for the raptor. He told me to come get it while we wait on the liquid gasket and it is ok to drive - it has only dropped a few drops on the ground since I’ve owned it, but there is some on the skid plate. I asked if I could take it on my trip and he said if I have another vehicle I can use that I should. I CAN take my dads limited, but I really WANT to take my raptor. Thoughts of taking it and bringing a quart or two of oil along? It is still perfect on the stick and was built 1/2017. What are your guy’s thoughts? Am I out of my mind for even thinking about taking it?

I've owned countless vehicles that dripped oil and it hasn't been a problem for anything other than the driveway. One FRF member warped his oil pan by driving hard in the hot Mexican sun. But that is the only report of something worse than a small nuisance drip.

Read your owners manual, most vehicles suggest that you have 2000 miles before towing. I would never tow till I had the required miles.

Both my Toyota Sequoia and my Raptor, I waited till I had the break in miles and never had an issue. What is another few weeks till you got the miles you need and the peace of mind that you didn't tow before you should.

Had two new boat motors, and followed both the strick guidelines on the break in procedures and never had any motor or transmission issues

Strange, I have towed before before break in and I have driven my boats hard before breaking in. Never had a problem with motor or transmission issues.

Now we will never know what to do!
