perhaps.. but its def coming from the top down in an engine off situation..
I found this video of a valve seal replacement on a 2011-2021 6.2L engine.

Yeah, that doesn't look like fun at all. Too many chances to drop a valve, and then you gotta remove the head... and that means a very high probability of snapping bolts :(

I could see valve seals causing the smoke on start up but not a smoke show. Rings could be causing the low compression. These engines are pretty bullet proof. Need a better explaination of diagnosis and or better diagnosis

Id like to see video of smoke and compression test conditions (hot, cold, wet, dry) with psi numbers

I should preface that this is not a Ford dealership, and they specifically requested to have me not take it to a Ford dealership as they thought they would try to rip them off in labor and diagnostics
You should take the VIN to a Ford dealer and look up the service records.
I bet this dealer put a couple cans of magic in the oil.

it’s possible but it’s not a head gasket issue so not sure what they could put in it to mask a valve seals/piston ring issue, whatever it was didn’t work well considering it only took about 1.5 hours to present itself. I wish I had the time and energy to deal with the problem but I just refuse to in this case. If I purchased a the truck for $16k with 280,000 miles I would, but not after spending almost $45k to get this one.

The owner of the dealership said they drove that truck for 500-800 miles before they listed it, I highly doubt they didn’t experience the chimney smoke show from the exhaust. Not to mention as I walked with the salesman to go look at the truck he told me to just wait and he would bring the truck over to me. I don’t think that was a coincidence.

Probably not.
I get bored every few years with vehicles, so I trade in a lot. Always want to see the vehicle at cold start. Best indication of it's condition, especially for used ones.

Shame about that Gen 1, was a clean one.

I'm waiting for my old one to go back up for sale.
