I'm leaning towards the geolanders. they are getting pretty good reviews and have lasted as long as 70k miles. not as light as the baja t/a's but the tread is a little closer together so the 'drag' shouldn't be as bad.

came across this website today - Home

It has a bunch of wheel and tire pics in different combos that are actually mounted. just click on the wheel size you want under - Wheel/Tire packages (offroad)

Good thread - thanks for starting this one.
Lots of useful info here, and I'll be checking on it again in a few months when I'm looking for summer tires.

A little more clarification on the BF Goodrich Baja T/A tires, please. Considering they're 10ish pounds lighter than stock, are they still worth it off road as well as on? It was established earlier that they aren't the race/project tires, so how the hell are the distinguishable when every place I look, it seems there isn't any distincrion between the two. Maybe small pics of each may aide a tad bit

See my post #15, the top pic is known as the baja. The lower pic is the project tire and much heavier than the baja. Race teams run both. For example lots of 10 cars and buggies run the tire in the top pic. They work very well in the dirt and hold up well. Projects on the other hand are absolute over kill for the street and take a beating beyond belief.

Oh ya, either tire will destroy our stockers in the dirt.

That post is what spurred the question. Good info tho, dude. I appreciate it. Do you know where I could find it and how to make sure the lighter one is differentiated from the project tire? Every time I see the two pics, it's the same damn part number unless the rim size changes.

If I'll be saving on weight as well as having a rugged tire, I may be serious about buying them.

They are very good tires. I had a freind with them and they were great in the dirt. Just remember they are a compound that is designed for desert like dirt. They are very hard, and don't soften up on the street at all. From what I remember they hum like mad and ride like bricks...

Try looking on race-dezert for a used set, tons of good tires on there, just need to jump on them quick when you find them. Or you can call Kartek, Mckenzies, SDHQ or some of the other usual suspects. Just make sure when you ask them to tell them you want the Baja's, not the projects.

Good luck
