There’s a guy on here looking to swap some 20” wheels with 35x12.50 ridge grapplers on them. He wants to do a straight up trade for my factory beadlock wheels. I had a Tacoma with a stage 3 icon lift, and it destroyed the ride quality. It kind of scarred me. My question is, how much of a difference at I going to notice going from my factory wheels and tires to a set of 20’s with F load range tires on them? I know that there are going to be people comment on the 20’s... I don’t Offroad much, so it’s not a concern. Ride quality on road however, is my concern. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys. BTW, my truck is an 18’ and his is a 19’ with Eibach springs so I can’t really just drive his truck, not apples to apples.

Oh man, Ill reserve my comments about the 20s...my biggest concern in your situation would be the F load rating. Thats a 12 ply tire that will probably be stiff as hell and ride accordingly, especially on a 20.

Smaller sidewall and a stiffer, higher load tire is going to be a stiffer ride. How much so is all objective. But it will be harsher than stock over bumps on road

I appreciate your reservation, and that too is my concern. I really hope that there is someone in here that has done that swap.

I do understand that, I’m just curious if it’s a negligible difference, or an “oh my god” difference like my Tacoma was.

With the raptors suspension even the non live valve it won’t be as bad as ur Taco. If you like the look and on road is where it’ll be most of its time go for it

thanks for that. The Taco was crazy, it would take some pretty hard hits at speed really well. I understood what digressive valving was going into it, just didn’t understand the magnitude of what it would be. I’m really leaning towards these wheels. They would look killer and it will spend 95% of its time on road. The load range is really what concerns me.

There are not many who run 20s and even fewer who opt for F-Load range tires for the reasons stated above. Even though he has front springs, I still suggest you go for a ride in his truck before agreeing to a swap. In the past the Grapplers were noisy on the road and only got worse as they wore down.

Also, why does he want to trade? He may not give you a straight answer, but it might be because it rides like crap and is very noisy unless you crank your radio up real high... ;)

Mine has 20's with 35' Ridge Grapplers. Rides beautifully as far as I am concerned, as good as if not better than factory tires. Completely quiet on the road and handles pretty well. And I off road occasionally.

I've put 11k miles on them so far with zero complaints.
