The drive-mode button is a huge design fail.

Hhmmm?, My 2018 802A doesn't. if you press it once, it just shows all the modes with the current mode highlighted. If you don't press it again to move the selection, nothing changes and it just disappears after ~2 sec. To change modes, you must press it at least twice.

That’s how mine works. First press pulls up the menu with current mode highlighted. Seems appropriate to me.
