So like all things in the military, the itinerary has changed. I am now taking a straight shot across I-80 from Stainless Works, straight to SLC. Again, this will still be in Mid-Dec so looking for more advice. Especially from @WyoStorm @Huck @JuggNuttz @Chris's FX4.

Last time I went from Seattle to Dallas across I-90 through Montana in a toaster on pizza cutter tires and the roads were great but it was Thanksgiving.

Just know that if you take I80 across Southern Wyoming at that time of the year you can count on wind and most likely snow. There's a reason they call part of that route the Snow Chi Minh Trail! It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for all the trucks that don't slow down. They added in variable speed limit signs now that try and slow everyone down when it gets too bad. I personally won't drive that route anymore in Dec/Jan. Not a lot of options coming west though as I70 and all the traffic can be an adventure anymore too. If you do go that route, just let me know beforehand and I can give you a forecast.

I-80 = road construction, crazy traffic and horribly boring scenery for a good chunk of the drive. Enjoy your drive through our portion of flyover country. On a good note you should find great pizza if there is time when you get to Chicago.

Snow probably won't be an issue at that time frame when rolling through IN/IL honestly, but you never know. There's just a lot of construction and truck traffic and traffic can get pretty heavy at time as you approach and leave the IN/IL border. Just watch out for the other idiots, there's a lot of them around here.

Back to the original plan, BWI to Stainless to Houston. Not sure after that. Duratracs and Methods are on order from Chris. I'm having them sent to her brother in Houston since we're going there now. @Yukon Joe, thank you for your assistance.

The only hard part is that now we are on an even more significant time crunch. SW says they can get it done before COB Friday, but that's as long as I'm there by 1530 the day before and I can't pick up the truck until 0800. Google maps says it's 5:16 with no traffic.
