Looking at what is available on the engine market

I would luve to spoon the porsche 918 engine in the raptor



4.6l v8 @ 9000+ rpm max and 650 horses N/A

If i could get the hybrid or turbo's in there would be even more fun [emoji38]

Then its like 900ish

But that is just dreaming....
O and it still does 3L /100km or 78us MPG
Maybe lil less with the weight of a raptor [emoji28]

Sorry, Im an optimist and think Ford engineers deserve a little more credit than everyone is giving them. They are not reinventing anything nor are they introducing new technology never seen before so Ill give them credit until I start ******** on their parade.

Obviously you have not owned a ford 4x4 truck with IWE. Their engineers wont get shit for credit from me until proven otherwise. And they are super smart for introducing the 10 speed in the raptor....not.

And I agree. I think a TT V6 motor would be fine. I am not so die hard V8 I won't change. But real world, not test world, always finds major issues. Look at gen 1 and frame issues. Issue, fight to fix, fixed. That is how it always works.

Again offroad raptors make up maybe 5% of the total ownership and of that 5% maybe 20% are active in the dirt.

So ford made a truck that meets the larger market share. Same argument for any car brand these days. Enthusiasts cars are going away.

Have you driven an automatic with 7 or more gears? Always hunting. And I think it's a bad idea to introduce it in the Raptor.

It's cute that your blindly putting all your faith in Ford engineers but as people who've actually owned a Raptor, we know better. They're are a lot of short comings.

I had a Toyota SUV with a transmission that never found happy ground. The current trans in our trucks will 'lug' up and down hills without over shifting. I think a 10 speed is just an attempt to gain a few extra mpg's for the government.

At any rate, it won't do us any good off road. I, like a lot of guys, use manual shifting and it's going to be a PITA to shift through more low-end gears trying to find the right torque for the conditions we are in. Will be interesting to see some real-world testing done and get the feedback from the drivers......

I drive my X5 in sport mode most of the time, as the 8-speed is just so dull and is never where I need it to be.

I have driven cars with 7 or more gears and yes, they are not ideal in all conditions. We are all guessing right now if its a good fit or not for the new Raptor and you could be right.

My guess is the new "traction management system" in the Raptor will lock out a bunch of the higher gears in the transmission so itll be more suited for the terrain you pick.

The 10 speed is absolutely for mpg but if they are smart Im sure the terrain management mode will dial the transmission in so its not always hunting in certain driving conditions.

But again, no one knows at this point and Im just thinking out loud.
