Yeah, I was going to install myself, but I gotta say I'm more than a little nervous about popping the engine off its mounts to get it on there.

I'll probably just bite the bullet and pay for the install, but still... Damn that's still spendy!

I did some digging and found the video below. I am not 100% on it, but it didn't look like they disconnected the motor mounts for the install. Maybe Paul from SW can chime in on whether it is actually necessary. I will message him to ask for his input.

So I went on SW's website and looked up authorized dealers. Found a shop in MN that looks like they do pretty good work. Hi Tech Motorsports. They quoted me $750 and two days! No fuss, no muss! Everyone else I've talked to just whines about how much of a pain they are and then either won't do them or quote me some outrageous figure!

Yeah, it's an extra 7 hours of driving and a required hotel, but what the hell... Good excuse to go to a ball game while they do the install!

My install ended up being $1,000 and took four days. But in the end I'm happy. My headers with performance connect s tubes and under bumper exit sound badass and give me some extra power. I'm impressed.

Ill do a video later maybe next week when I have time to do it.

Guy just said he had never done a Raptor before and that the engine bay was very tight. Ended up having to lift the engine. He said the next one he did he would charge more. Not many Raptors around here. Good guy with a well known local shop. Main thing that ticked me off is he said it would be a one day job. Then the truck would be ready the next day, etc. one day turned into four.

I'm going back by to get all the bolts checked and tightened next week. I may end up giving him a couple hundred more just because I don't thin he knew what he was getting into. But I'm pleased with the result.

^^^^If he TRULY spent a lot of that four days trying to figure out new ground on the Raptor; you are the MAN for even thinking of offering him a little extra to help him out. I have been in that position before working on other's trucks, get into a quoted job and wind up having to do much more than expected and wind up either breaking or losing a little. I have only had one person offer more like that in the past few years and he actually gave me a $100 tip so to speak. I bet that would make his day and make him the EXACT guy for doing all your future installs....
