Lot of rednecks with F150's around here.

So, what's the most recommended way of securing the gate?

Not with OP's lock, apparently.

Replace it with a tiregate and store it in your basement. That's what I did

If their tailgates have the camera or the man step, then their tailgates are at just as much risk of being stolen as yours is.

MasterLock only states that it "prevents" theft. I personally had a Bully brand but it scratched into the paint because it was all metal, like the Masterlock. I ended up going with McGard because it was metal but with a plastic sleeve and it hasn't harmed the paint for the last year. But even that one only "prevents"

Tailgate Lock

Tailgates with a camera I heard cost around $2200 to replace. I personally would start looking on Craigslist, might get lucky and yours will be on there. I let you think of what can happen next....

That sucks! I have this tailgate lock as well and assumed it was safe. How did they get the lock off?

i have the master lock as well but im really **** about making sure ive locked the tailgate with the key lock. i check it every time im not sure ive locked it
