This Gate Keeper thing is most definitely heavy duty. The problem with these (that I've read about) is the thief has room between the bracket and truck hinge to insert a long ass pry tool and bend the thing enough to remove the tailgate. No system is foolproof I guess and anything is better than nothing. I still think it would be a good idea to advertise the use of extra locks, etc. so the casual ******** will just move on.

this may be true but I just looked again at the pics and there is a ton of material at the base where the side meets the floor. Looks like you would have to separate the side of the bed from the floor by 3/4" to get the gate out. That looks like more work that most thieves would want to expend.

A thieve would simply bend the keeper up.
It should be a full hoop surrounding the pivot; that would require unbolting.

After I get back home I will drill and tap the pivot and install a bolt from the side. A thieve would be tugging and pulling without seeing anything that is preventing the removal of the gate.

I will also modify the cable ends so it requires unbolting for removal!

I like the idea of drilling and tapping, there are acouple of ways to do this which would be simple, quick, and effective.

All of this makes me wonder if there is a better/tougher tailgate lock to replace the factory lock at the handle. If it was difficult and time consuming to defeat the lock, and then the thief was faced with additional difficulties once he got the tailgate open, it would probably be enough.

Perhaps some type of metal plate over the locking mechanism inside the tailgate. Would have to be some type of security screw that is unique but you got a good idea there going.

Jimmi Jammer makes a plate for the tailgate locking mechanism.

Door Lock Protection Plates Ford F150

Part # 113475

I was looking at this and it looks like it prevents someone from punching out the lock from the outside. But watching Noah's video, a thief just needs to hide in the bed and take out the screws on the back of the tailgate and trip the lock to open the gate. In Noah's video' he did it pretty quick. This item doesn't seem to address that.
