It is not bent... it’s not welded in the proper position. Probably a tooling issue as I doubt that piece is manufactured by hand.

But what do I know having only been employed in aerospace manufacturing, having had my own off road automotive business including custom fabrication, and having collaborated with automotive and black rifle companies In bringing innovated aftermarket parts to fruition?

Now if for some strange reason it was designed that way (if so poorly), I’d like to hear the motivation.

I dunno why you'd take offense to it...but ironically if ya questioning why I would say that I could probably one up ya on "what do I know" when it comes to metals....I can tell ya one thing, bout a 50% chance your running boards are my metal, 5% chance some of the body panels are, 20% chance the tranny casing is.... ;-)

I just don't see it possible for a mere 5k lbs (and being the manufacturing/fab business I'm sure you'd agree, thats really not a lot of weight) could possible "bend" a trailer hitch on a 1/2 ton pickup. Do i think it may be a manufacturing/design flaw? Absolutely! Could even be bad/weak metal, CU in the alloy, not heat treated correctly, aside from actually being installed/machined wrong.

But a piece of forged steel that thick & that short structurally welded to a trucks frame to get bent from having 5k lbs dropped on it (which obviously didnt't happen) let alone merely pulling a 5k trailer seems in a word, unlikely.

Think my meaning was misunderstood from the get go. I never suggested anything was bent. At least that I recall at this time which isn’t saying too much. Was told elsewhere I didn’t know what I was talking about on the matter and the reasoning for the micro resume.

I believe you stated my hypothesis much better as I saw no signs of failure of a metallurgical nature. In layman’s terms it looks “welded on” crooked.

Wow. That is garbage!! I towed a 20’ weekend warrior toy hauler with a Ducati track bike in it with my gen1, never had an issue. Seems like quality took a turn for the worse with the gen2.

You probably just haven’t noticed your hitch is bent because your frame is bent to match it.
