??Squeaking In Reverse??

The driveway and parking lots I'm backing up in are completely flat.

It sounds like a squeaky spring, but to only happen while going backwards is strange.

When you say drop the drive line, what do you mean? Drop it in gear while moving?

Drop the driveline=remove it.
Once it's out you will be able to move the U Joints back and forth by hand.

Actually I'm not the best at driving in reverse, ask people about me driving CB Freshness's truck into a ditch at Snoball 14 (it wasn't stuck, it just wasn't on the trail), but to my defence he has no reverse camera and a standing tire rack. Luckily for Yukon this was just put it in reverse in the nice flat straight driveway...lol

Well, at least you've ruled that out! Bearing, brakes, ****, try putting the wife where the spare tire is and see if she can narrow it down!

That noise is different than the noise that is solved by greasing the drive shaft pinion. That almost sounds like rubber rubbing, but if it only happens in reverse, that is indeed odd, you would think it would do that kind of noise both ways. That being said, try greasing the leaf spring mounting eyelets, it is "possible" that the tension in reverse is causing just the right movement on those to make the noise in reverse but not in drive if they need a little love. If it were a shock, you would need more up and down movement than you get in your driveway and I would assume it would happen both ways as well. MAYBE.

Before going crazy get some lube spray ( NOT WD 40 ) or anything like it, this will dissolve any grease.
And spray the crap out of both front and rear universals. Not on your driveway though it will stain.
Throw some cardboard down at least. Spray the front one first, sounds more like it's that one.

Jack up the rear so both tires can spin and put her in reverse and drive. At least you can rule out the springs.
Unless your driveway is that lumpy to articulate the truck that much and that fast it would be the springs.
I suspect driveshaft or possibly rear wheel bearing.

To pull the driveshaft down you need a good 12 pt. 7/16 socket and lots of muscle because the 4 bolts are loctite in.
I tried using my Dewalt 1/2 cordless impact gun on them, won't budge but a good air ratchet did it without complaints.

I'm thinking it is the universal joints. I now notice a slight chirping at speed when I let of the gas and the drive train is unloaded.

Liquid wrench white lithium spray is a good option for the universals and bushings fwiw

Yes, aftermarket u-joints come with zerks. I have Car Quest whatever manufacturer "premium" in mine.

When I did mine, both just about fell out. Yes, I put it off too long. That is about what it sounded like when backing up. Different length shafts will sound different.
