After a week of beating my head against the wall... At least 50 phone calls and at least a hundred emails back a forth with Tesla..
Finally a suit from Washington put the e-hammer down...
"Greg – thanks for the outreach. I think I can respond pretty quickly to your questions.
·On the DC charge protocol, that is protected IP and unfortunately not open to disclosure.
·On the swap capability – check out our demo video on the teslamotors.com site where we show how automated swap would work (coming soon to a Supercharger location near you!).
·On the coolant and electronics, we use “quick connects” that assist in the Tesla automated swap system. The packs are not necessarily proprietary to a specific vehicle, but are specific by type (e.g., 85kW can only be swapped for 85kW and 60 for 60).
On swapping, we don’t endorse owners swapping packs themselves. These packs weigh in excess of 1,000 pounds each and can be very dangerous for someone without the proper equipment to swap out. In addition, connections must be assured. I don’t see how this could be done safely on the road without a pit, lift and heavy equipment. In fact, removal by non-Tesla service personnel is discouraged because of the weight and high voltage hazards. This will also void your warranty.* Moreover, there is no way to safely recharge the packs without the supporting electronics on the vehicle.
I again appreciate your interest. For the record, you may want to look at what we’re doing with automated swap. Once that system is in place cross-country, you should be able to beat the ICE record using our Supercharger/swap stations.
Best – Jim

They don't know me very well... Brandi laughed when she read this and said "you are not going to let this go, are you?"
Hell no! Just like Shawshank Redemption... I will write/call them every week until they give in..
