I run the hd's without shackles and can say yes they perform just as well as the sds off road. It's a bit stiffer on the road but after all this is a truck. I also had my ssd sack out hence the reason I upgraded to the hd's

Were you running a loaded bed on the SDs and were they +1 or 2

That's surprising that the +2 standards "sacked out". So basically what i am hearing is that with the heavy duty +2 and the drop shackles you get the best if all worlds. You get a spring that won't sack out with added weight, you get the lower center of gravity in the rear, you do not sacrifice up travel and they act like a standard duty spring yet are able to provide better loading capabilities and they are just as good offroad as standards even when the bed is unloaded. So why in the hell would anyone get standard duty springs?

I've had the sd springs for over 3 years with no issues. But they're a +2 and I only care a spare and a jack in the bed so not much weight. I have been thinking of going to HD springs drop shackles and 3.5 fox shocks through the bed into a bed cage

My ssd sacked to the point where they were inverted and wouldn't budge. You could have a large person jump on the tailgate and the truck wouldn't move. They were replaced by Rpg and I upgraded to the hd's to be safe

Jeez that is horrible. So what reason is there to go with standards is instead of +2 HD with drop shackle? Besides the small increase in price from the shackle

brappp sounds like you just need the SD +2's and you'll be happy with them i promise. and like i said before you'll get that nose high stance with them and being on top perch. when you upgrade the leaf springs you're removing that 2" block and once the springs settle its actually about half an inch to an inch lower in the rear once the springs settle.
