That’s why I asked. Many think it’s not worth doing.

a couple thousand miles is honestly way too short of a "test period" for me to say one way or the other.

I will also say that I only ran the mpt tune for about 1000 miles, then removed it. The adaptive cruise was way too finicky when running any of their tunes. The extra hp and torque weren't worth me leaving it in.

Based on the current state of my motor, I highly doubt that any amount of anything would have prevented what is going on. I have a feeling that the cause of my woes is mechanical or Physical-electrical (i.e. wiring harness).

I would tend to say "run a catch can" if you're going to run a tune that does not leverage the tables which facilitate the truck adapting to lower octane levels. Any sort of oil blow by pollution can have a diminishing impact on the effective octane in-cylinder, and I'd put the mod in the " rather safe than sorry" bucket.

That being said, I'm pretty sure the Ford engineers designed in enough variability to negate a catch can as a requirement for a stock truck.

Ive had the MPT tune in for about 3 weeks now and its been very good. But , i dont have the tech pac. I drive prob 60 miles a day in the city and didnt need a fire breathing , neck snapping jerky shifting tune. Im glad to say the mpt is fine in that regard. I barely notice the tune in 90% of my driving and thats what i wanted. If i stick my foot in it.... it shows up nicely.

This is exactly what I hope the MPT 93 PRX does for my truck. I have the Tech Package, but I am willing to turn Adaptive Cruise off if it causes problems with the tune. None of my other trucks have had it, so it is not that big of a deal for me.

oh you might regret that. Radar cruise is one of those things that you don't know the value of till you've had it. Then its hard to live without it. Reduces effort and destresses road trips significantly.

I tried it when traveling to/from Dallas a couple of weekends ago. I found it was slowing down to soon for my tastes, so I kept turning it off.

yeah, there is something else going on with the truck outside of the plugs.

I was getting misfire DTCs for cyls 4, 5 and 6 as well as the multiple random misfire dtc and the misfire within first 1000 revolutions dtc.

I swapped the plugs in hopes that it would smooth out the shuddering and that the dtcs would stop.

No dice. It has only gotten progressively worse.

so, roadside assistance is on the way to get it.

any update yet?
