Financially I just don't want to lose my butt of the pricey warranty. As for height, mpg and commute. Ether way I'm going to be commuting in my wife's car as neither truck will fit in garage. I can either have a raptor for the weekends or a platinum. Fuel economy isn't a huge concern for the reduced driving the truck, whatever it is will see.

Then get a Raptor! You won't be disappointed.

1. Buy raptor and broom the platinum :deal:

2. Buy a 4 cylinder import car on CL for cheap cheap and drive it to work 3 or 4 days a week ... Broom car and repeat

Acura integras and honda accords would good.. I even drive my Zuki to work if the weathers nice (75 mile round trip)

DO IT !!! There is no other truck like the Raptor. When you cancel the warranty Ford usually transfers the prorated amount back to your loan. Gas mileage???.... Who gives a shit. A couple MPGs won't make that much of a difference, especially when you can't get rid of the grin driving your new Raptor. I did just drive my Lieutenants brand new FX4 Eco-boost this morning, and while its definitely an Awesome truck........ there is only one Raptor and nothing like it And DO NOT buy your warranty from your dealer - go online to Lombard Ford In Florida and buy from them - awesome $ savings.

I'm in the same boat as you: I am in the market of buying a Raptor, and I am partially gas conscious. Do I want great gas mileage? Of course! Do I want to buy a badass truck? F*** yeah! There's going to be a compromise between badassery and mpgs with most vehicles.

I am not sure how long my commute to work is going to be since I don't know where I'm gonna live when I get to my new base. If it's gonna be really long, I have my motorcycle, which is a nice little gas saver :) You can get one of those or a Japanese beater on the side for not too much $$.

Edit: You'll have your awesome Raptor to lug a bike around!

Now that I have the 6.2 it is hard to go back to the little engines. I am getting 14-15 average in Houston commute and I am happy. The 35 gallon is perfect for the truck. You barely touch it and it just goes, I love my truck.

I am going to be honest with you and tell you that financially it does not make any sense to buy a Raptor. As I read through your post I can tell you are getting the Raptor bug.

As far as mileage I have had my truck for 6 days and about 550 miles. I have had a long commute to work for a few months on heavy Houston traffic and I can see myself getting 12-14 mpg.

I can tell you one thing though, this is the coolest and most badass truck available in the market. I say it's time to order a Raptor. You will not regret it. Just do it.

I lol'd

I was in the a similar boat. I said f*** it and got a one. I drive a corolla back and forth to work on my commute and a lot of mine and my wife's trips around town. The truck sits in the driveway and my wife uses it during the week for a grocery getter. Depending on the trip we will take the truck because it is more comfy for the long drive. If time and money are tight we will take the car since we get around 38 MPG on it vs the 12 MPG that we get in the truck.
