Considering trading '13 Platinum for '13 Raptor

I bought a 2013 Platinum in November, at the time I did this it was because I commute about 90 miles a day round trip and wanted the fuel economy. A few things have transpired since then:

(1) Fuel economy has never been attained, avg about 15.2mpg w/ ecoboost
(2) My office is moving to downtown and the paid garage will not fit my current truck so I either pay $15 a day for surface parking or drive my wifes explorer (Im leaning on the latter)
(3) I want to level my platinum now and that will cost me about $2K incl tires.

So the things holding me back are really I bought an extended warranty on the platinum, I only have 15K miles on it but would want money back or transfer of the warranty, is that possible? Also our community is probably the worst you can have for mpg, a lot of stop lights that are decently spread out with 45-50mph speed limits... so a lot of accelerating upto 50 and stopping. My wife gets about 15mpg in her explorer (rated 17-22). Would I be looking sub 10mpg (my wife would drive during the week)

Thanks

I am going to be honest with you and tell you that financially it does not make any sense to buy a Raptor. As I read through your post I can tell you are getting the Raptor bug.

As far as mileage I have had my truck for 6 days and about 550 miles. I have had a long commute to work for a few months on heavy Houston traffic and I can see myself getting 12-14 mpg.

I can tell you one thing though, this is the coolest and most badass truck available in the market. I say it's time to order a Raptor. You will not regret it. Just do it.

I cant help you on much but for one as I'm sure you know, you dont buy a raptor for fuel economy. Second unless you plan on driving your wifes car everyday the raptor definitely will not fit in the garage if they wont take your current truck.

Financially you are going to get your ass kicked...the amount of money lost on the trade buys a lot of gas...now, if you wait 6 months and have more miles you might get hit even harder...the only way to know is talk to your dealer and work the numbers. If you can live with how things shake out go for it...

If your worried your platinum doesn't fit in the garage your going to have the same issues with the raptor.

I drive 100 miles round trip on highways a day and I average 14-16 depending on traffic.

I don't believe you can transfer the warranty, I believe you have to cash it in and buy a new one at a loss. Local guy just did that

Do it. If it's the same dealer they should refund the remainder of the warranty. They did for me at least. As for mpg you will probably be around 11-12 depending on what fuel grade you run. Your drive sounds about like mine and I average 12.5 running 93 octane.

Financially I just don't want to lose my butt of the pricey warranty. As for height, mpg and commute. Ether way I'm going to be commuting in my wife's car as neither truck will fit in garage. I can either have a raptor for the weekends or a platinum. Fuel economy isn't a huge concern for the reduced driving the truck, whatever it is will see.
