My bad. I misread an excellent review by Bojangles . . .

"Sirius radio has a function where when I hear a song I like, I can click "Memo" and then "add song" or "add artist" ...now up to 20 songs or artists can be stored at a time in a memo system that will give me a quick audible alert and a tune-to-channel option that will take me directly to the music I've told the truck that I'd like to hear again."

. . . and thought I could hit Memo and store the song on the hard drive.

Oh well. When I get 2000 songs onto the hard drive (via iPod, I guess), goodbye, Sirius.

I dont know well about sirus, but i do of XM.
My G37s had XM radio for 3 months free, after then i didnt renew because i found out i only litsten XM when i go long trip which is like once in 6 months. I had driven the car for 2 year lease. Right after finish of 3months free term, they sent me letters for renew which charge for way expensive. Of course i didnt renew. I ignored all those letter, but XM, they never called me even once. Anyway, time went by and after like 1 year of my car, they started sending me letters with huge discounted price!! The price was really good so i wanted to activate again, but i knew i would return my lease so i didnt. In conclusion, i hope Sirus also have that kinda things.
Oh, and i heard some rumor that we dont have to renew Sirus for the Nav traffic info thing. Im not sure though

My lousy Wrangler came with 1 year of Sirius . At the end of 12 months a guy called and wanted to know if I wanted to renew it . I said no and he was like; "Ok, have a good day." That was it . 6 months after that they finally shut it off .

Travel Link-only subscription ?

Anybody with some recent info on deals for the Travel-Link-only renewal ??? Thanks to the USB2 setup, I don't listen much to the radio, but like the traffic and weather info.
Note that the base travel link includes weather, fuel price, sport info, movie listings but no traffic.
Here is what the sirius site states (http://www.sirius.com/travellink) :wow:

SIRIUS Travel Link Pricing
SIRIUS Traffic w/ Travel Link $5.99 month*
SIRIUS Traffic ONLY $3.99 month*
SIRIUS Travel Link ONLY $1.99 month*

SIRIUS Traffic and Travel Link are available with or without a SIRIUS Audio subscription. For standalone Traffic and Travel Link, you must subscribe to a one year package or longer.

Their prices are beyond ridiculous. I think their strategy now is to get as much money as they can from each subscriber rather than give better pricing to more subscribers.

My Sat radio is off but my Traffic with Travel Link is still on. I won't even consider paying them anything until that gets shut off.

With streaming audio and video thru cellphones de rigueur these days, I believe SIRIUS is a bit less attractive, at least to me.

I use regular FM radio, ipod, pandora, sirius, CD, and the hard drive of the truck. Each one has it's benefits. I drive a lot especially places that don't get cell service (pandora) or have crappy FM stations (if any). Most of the time I listen to my ipod or Sirius...and off road it's mostly sirius because it's so easy to change stations compared to changing music on the ipod. The travel link, which I never thought I'd use, has come in handy on numerous occasions. If I'm low on gas and I'm in unfamiliar territory I can look for the nearest Mobile station...or check the traffic on my route and make sure to take the way with the gren arrows along it. With the multiple subscription rates I have my 2 years for the full boat was $185...well worth it to me. But hey, I don' t fill my wiper fluid or pump my gas ;)

Here is an update on which Sirius offers I got as of mid-September.
- First I did let the 6-month period trial expire. The cutoff was exactly on time after 6 month for both radio and travel link.
- I did not receive any special mail offer other than the standard 1-year-with-3-free-months, without Travel Link of course...
- I waited for a week and called the two 800-/866- numbers. I refered to several offers mentioned in this and other Ford owners forums but did not get anything interesting. Anyway it looked like Travel link was never included in their packages. I just hung up saying I would wait for a more interesting deal. :box:
- I waited for another week and called again. Their 1st offer was even worse than before, asking for a 2 years subscription. Tried again to ask for the "forum offer" at about $100 for one year for radio AND travel link but nothing came out.
- After insisting a bit during that call, I finally got the $19.99 for 5 months radio deal, to which I added the one year (non-discounted) rate for traffic+travel link at $5.99 a month. So the final amount with tax was around a hundred bucks for that.:banghead:
- Then I was asked to go to my vehicle and wait for the satellite signal activation. At the first trial only the travel link ESN was activated, so I had to call again and wait again for the radio ESN to be activated. In total more than an hour from the start of the call to everything all right :banana:...

A few additional tricks:
- Based on what I did read in this and other forums, I asked to receive an invoice rather than giving my credit card info over the phone. This adds a minor $2 fee or so. I then went to the web site on the same day and paid with my card there and chose the "one time use only" option, so this should avoid auto renewal paiements in the future.
- Once logged in your account, you can apparently request signal activation from there (as your ESN are listed). Next time I will try this feature as it seems more convenient than waiting and requesting this by phone.
- For the activation to work, you have to tune channel 184. Even though a popup displays insistently that Sirius is deactivated, you can just dial in 1-8-4-enter and it will work.
- Before hanging up the phone, ask for your web account username and password, as after the renewal those were not the same as what I received in the initial paper mail.

Here it is now, happy to benefit from the traffic feature daily, and the weather and fuel price info when travelling !
