2023 Raptor experiencing serious computer problems. Center console screen (the big one) keeps freezing and bogging, sometimes will freeze on startup Raptor screen, sometimes sits black, now freezing in camera mode while backing the vehicle up - super dangerous. Usually will fully reboot itself after 1-2 minutes, but sometimes I have to restart the vehicle. Sometimes it happens a bunch, sometimes not for a few or several days. Yes my software is updated.

I have started taking videos of these incidents including one full freeze during backing up of the vehicle. My Ford service shop is declining any repairs, despite watching my videos. They say Ford cannot do anything unless they can reproduce the problem at the shop.

Given my videos, I feel like that should be sufficient to warrant replacement of computer components. They want me to drop off the vehicle for a couple days so they can try to reproduce multiple times. I’m betting that it wont happen while there.

This feels obnoxious. What should I do?
Because it is freezing upon startup or remaining black, I don't think it is a phone issue. The phone is not connected right when you start the vehicle. Your issues are believable because I have seen similar on here before. Sometimes software, sometimes gateway module, sometimes something else. Bottom line is that you are going to have to take the truck the the dealer and let them try to get it to happen. Before you take it to the dealer though, unpair your phone and drive around for a week or two to see if it continues. If the problem persists when no phones are paired do some homework to try and help the service department replicate it. If it happens at completely random times, then that could be a problem. If you can nail down certain times of day, weather, location, first start of the day, etc.., that will help in reproducing it. Good luck to you. They might have it more than a couple of days.

And most of the time, it’s devices and apps paired to the system. The fact that the system has an issue when starting the vehicle is not indicative of anything; previously connected devices will have already corrupted the CIP side of the module.

This $110k vehicle is designed to be connected to a phone. It seems kind of ghetto that connecting a phone to make phone calls and use Google Maps makes me SOL if hypothetically the problems stop when phone is disconnected.
Yes, Sync is designed to connect to devices. That doesn’t mean said devices won’t cause problems with the system. Infotainment systems in general are engineered years in advance of the latest devices, and updates are generally reactive as opposed to proactive. Meaning they are released mainly to account for changes made by electronics manufacturers.

I'd assume it's a problem with Sync4, but...
What version of iPhone do you have? (Xs/XR or newer?) Do you have special characters in the name of the iPhone? What version of iOS are you running?
I trust that the phone is perfectly fine being that Apple is better at software development than Ford, but it's always worth asking weird questions that may affect connectivity to other devices.

EDIT: I have also read that when connecting to certain vehicles with CarPlay, the EQ settings on the phone may cause crashes. You can test this by disabling the phone's EQ and trying to connect again. Some people have also simply changed the EQ from "Late Night" to another setting and fixed their crashing issues.

My truck also has this issue. I have tried it with 3 phones, fully updated truck as it connects to wifi as soon as I park in the garage.
I have tried wired with usb c and usb a as well as wireless. I have tried Apple cords and Amazon cords. I have soft reset and hard reset, I’ve had it happen to where the gauges reset and my r mode settings reset. I’ve also had it to where my r mode doesn’t work at all. It happens with out any phone connected as well. When I shift to reverse it makes a loud noise and freaks out pausing the camera, if the front sensors engage it does the same thing. If I go through a tunnel and the dimming occurs the same thing happens. The radio will randomly restart. I have no clue why. Happened after maybe a month of ownership

Get some video and take it to the dealer and get it fixed.
If they balk and say ‘can’t reproduce problem’ the response should be: Try. HARDER.

If you give them video they can see there is a problem, you didn’t just miracle that video of the problems into existence. Unless you’re an actual sorcerer or sorceress, and if that’s the case cast a spell on the service writer. If that’s still not enough, get the service manager and tell them to take the talking monkey away from your truck and put an actual vehicle technician with troubleshooting skills on it.

My Gen 2 would glitch out every once in a while. Would toss my phone in the dash space and the power cord simply hanging down over the screen from the phone to the plug in would cause it.

Troubleshooting 101; rule out all or as many variables as possible. Any connected peripheral is a variable, whether we choose to admit it or not. By removing the attached phone you remove 2 possible variables - the cable and the phone. The sync programming will ( probably ) NOP anything for CarPlay.

I’d retest without CarPlay -- no phone or cable plugged in, but bluetooth ok. If the problem persists, FORGET the bluetooth phones and re-pair them. If that doesn’t work, put the phone in airplane mode and retest. If the problem persists, you’ve ruled out any remote connection.

I’ve never really warmed up to CarPlay but, I do remember one of the idiosyncrasies was having the CarPlay device connected at start up resulted in not connecting. Hello, buddy. Have you considered employment options in any IT company? After all, if you are a really good specialist, then you can earn good money. I recommend visit this website and check out the list of the best web development companies. You may be able to contact the manager or send your resume. I think I should try it.
Thanks for help!
