It all depends on the truck... All trucks are not exactly the same... If its on one end of the caster/camber alignment spec the spring mod might move out and it might not be able to be pulled in to spec... If it were me I would have the kit available to be installed...

Ok will do! I was doing so good on a budget and now that just crazy talk.

OK, but worst case is I can put the kit on afterwords right? The reason I ask so many questions is down to only one rig and really don't want something messing up and then stuck waiting on parts with no wheels.

This and this and this. I'd still anticipate doing the cam kit, but it could be added later if you decide not to do it then. And no joke this truck could turn a man broke!

Great write up! I've been eye ballin the RPG tie rod and uca, it's most likely my next "big" mod. Did RPG talk about what suspension angles are corrected with the uca, concerning placement of the spherical bearing?

Pirate Air,

We designed the new UCA's cup angle to offer the same amount of bump travel as the OE application, but also allows for increased droop travel without sacrificing pin strength attachment to the upper control arm into the knuckle.

We also increased caster for those who are on the middle or top perch setting.

Hope this helps.

Jarrett

We recommend running the stock boot. We have been running without it on the RPG truck, but that is to see what the long term affects might be.

I'm getting lots of positive feedback about these mods and this thread via PMs. Happy to help guys!

One question that's been asked several times is what wheel I'm running that allows using the 1.5" bearing at the knuckle? Any wheel with 5" or less backspacing will work, but specifically I'm running the Method Standard Race wheels, purchased from Outlaw Raptor: Method Race Wheel Flat Black & Machined 17 x 8.5 6-135 04-Pres F150 | Outlaw Raptor :peace:

A question has come up via PM that might deserve some attention. Its about the OEM boots that are reused when installing the RPG tie rods. There's concern that they are undersized for the RPG clevises, and that they'll wear from the inside out pretty quickly. Also one guy has done the install himself and is having trouble keeping the boot secured on the steering box side; it keeps popping off on the passenger side.

Maybe RPG can fill in the details as to why they opted to reuse the stockers rather than provide new larger boots?

As for securing the boot to the steering box side, my install reuses the stock clamps and so far they've held the boot in place on both sides just fine. I just ran out and took a couple quick pics to show ya. Here's my driver side:

And here's the passenger side:

So while I haven't had any problem yet, maybe RPG can fill us in as to why they chose to reuse the stock clamps rather than provide new hose clamps?
