Yep I'm wanting a mobile unit installed in the truck. I'll try to do some more researching. Would rather spend the extra money to get something I don't have to get again and would use for years to come.

Then it's your call between the tyt, icom, etc. I don't think you'll find anyone that has complaints with what they have, regardless of which one

I had the hand held and I was very surprised on how well it did.

I have not looked for pics on the forum yet but, I know Troy (brd o prey) did a very nice mount of his radio under the steering wheel. If I remember right, he said he posted pictures on the forum. We looked at his and I might try to install in a similar location. For the Snoball I had ours in the center console with just the mic cord sticking out. That worked ok if you were not changing channels much.

That's more of a personal placement thing. I velcroed mine to the back of the rear counsel for the snoball. Worked great and isn't permanent.

Joe mounted our tyt beside the consol with Velcro. For the hand held we clipped it to the moonroof cover with the antenna in the space between the moon roof and the head liner hard to explain, but with a Mic hanging it worked well there
