So that I understand this correctly , there is no difference in the TYT9000 vhf and the Icom F5021 Chase Package ? I noticed that there was a group purchase back in December on the icon . I still need to find an antenna that hooks on to the bed. I am open for any suggestion's.

The TYT 900 is a Amateur Radio where the F5021 is a Chase radio.

Difference?

TYT has 15 watts more power. 65W vs 50W
TYT has a numbered mic so you can program in any Freq on the Fly. Ability to type in specific freqs vs being up shit creek.

I can beat any price anyone gives you for a radio package with a similar if not better package for less money. Programmed with TRR, GRLE, Weatherman etc

All the support trucks for GRLE run this setup.

Kanakry, Worldtour, WSI, 012BlueSVT. Bang for the buck you cannot beat it!

I can do everything Radio, antenna and programming for less than a ICOM. Let me know if you are interested. I actually have one on the way for another FRF member.

I am also looking into the Handheld version they make as well. I have no expirence with it at this time though.

Just remember. Your radio is only as powerful as the weakest radio you're trying to talk to.

The icon 5021 is still a cheap unit compared to most mobile mount VHFs. Yes it's not field programmable. But in the 4 years I've owned mine it's never been an issue. It's also mil spec. Ygwypf.
