Ford should have an answer and changes for the ecoboost Raptor. The RHO has much better numbers in HP, torque and at least straight forward performance- off-road different story. The ecoboost Raptor hasn’t seen engine changes since introduced in 2017.
Everyone realizes a 93 octane tune on the 3.5HO effectively matches the HP & crushes the TQ made by a stock RHO while also weighing ONE THOUSAND lbs less!?!?

Both engines have forged internals

The 3.5HO has more displacement but the inline configuration of the hurricane has always seemed to be slightly more preferred for durability…the R? The RHO is no comparison.

I wish the 3.5 was a straight 6…regardless of HP that is a tip in the RHOs favor. I can’t imagine there is much more tune ability out of that 540 hp 3.0. If the Raptor had the same HP/liter thats 630 HP out of a 3.5…..from the factory…lol
Hmmm…yeah that’s crazy, it’s not like they haven’t already put a version of this engine in a car for like a decade actually exceeding that power level lol!!!

I agree straight 6 seems to be the most preferred layout for performance enthusiasts, but there have been some great V6 engines over the years as well

Well yeah, but they probably aren’t going to put an exact ford GT engine in a 80K Raptor. We can all wish i suppose lol..

Well, if you are limited to 6 cylinders, yes.

If you can run a larger engine, that's always going to make more power for less money.

Ford went from 450HP/510TQ on the TT 3.5L V6 to 720HP/640TQ on the S/C 5.2L V8. Using a less efficient power adder as well. The blower is consuming approx 75 HP and the V8 does not have DI either.

Run twin turbos on the 7.3L V8 and Ford could get over 1000 HP on pump gas while meeting emissions and providing a warranty.

GM just did the 1000+ HP TT V8 thing with the ZR1 with only 5.5L.
2025 ZR1 puts out 1064HP/828TQ.

the only replacement for displacement, is more displacement..

3.5L under 20PSI is 7.0L probably...

whats a 7.3L on 20PSI?? 14.7 Liters maybe? Im not a math guy

1200HP? 1400 Ft LBS?

prob need a better trans...

A ZR1 motor in a Raptor….now that would be something. I might actually pay R money for that.

I went from a 2020 Raptor to a 2021 TRX, and you’re correct, the Raptor with the EcoPoop has plenty of power, and the fuel economy is considerably better. My big reason for the change in 2021 was that I got $4,000 more than what I paid for the Raptor, and roughly $6,000 off sticker on the TRX. With the extended warranty on the TRX, it was a little more than a straight across trade.

The 3.5 in the Raptor in my experience was a great motor. It’s also lighter, more nimble, and the fox shocks are a better off road setup. I also wouldn’t trust the new Hurricane motor in the RHO, they are having a lot of issues already. It might be a pinch faster in a drag race, but I bet it’s faster to the local service department when shit starts to break.

Right now if I was in the market for a new truck, the 3.5 on 37’s would be high on the list, or a 2024 TRX that’s been discounted. The Raptor R is out of my price range, and again I don’t trust the engine in the RHO.
The RHO looks great on paper. But there's actually a thread on the RHO forum discussing the Lemon Laws in various states.
