Review: Alcon Brakes for Gen 2

Just finished a big build and wanted to share some inputs on what might be my favorite addition:

Alcon 6-pot Front Calipers
Alcon Slotted Front & Rear Discs
Crown SS Brake Lines

Pros:
Brake pedal feel - Massive improvement. Less pedal mush, more consistency.
Brake grab - Its easier to find the engagement point at any speed.
Brake power - These will stop your shit fast and in less distance.

These are so good that it almost makes the stock brakes seem irresponsible.

Wheel options

We were able to fit these with a set of 17" Enkei RPT1s (and will work with stock 17s) by using easy-to-find Grade 8 hardware from the local store. Took a little grinding off the leading edge of the head (1-2mm) to clear but simple enough.

Beyond the power upgrades done to the truck, these are the most noticeable improvement. If you're investing in go-fast parts, don't forget you also need to slow that beast down reliably and consistently.

Don't regret a penny spent on these, they work.

Agree. If you don’t have deaver rear springs (which IMO is the best mod, these brakes the second), the difference between them and the oem leafs is greater than the alcons and the stock brakes.

@raiderofthelostark nice! I’m waiting for my brackets to come in so I can install these! Which bolts is it you had to grind? I have the same wheels! Also is yours an electronic parking brake? I have only been able to find the rear rotor/pad set for the electronic parking brake trucks.

Do you have the calipers with the 2 bolts from the top, or the 4 bolts from the side? I'm waiting on the brackets for the 4 on the side, but they're saying an April 23rd ship date now. If you have the 4 bolts from the side, you shouldn't need to grind anything.

Damn at 1k that's a steal. I paid 2200 for my front alcons. Someone needs to jump on this.

They look great on your truck and especially with the rpf1.

To fit under my Enkei 17s, we had to get smaller allen headed grade 10 caliper bolts and had to machine some of the top of the head off for clearance.

The two caliper bolts on the top. Needed new hardware and a bit of grinding to fit.

Oh I have the 4 on the back! And I bought mine from that same eBay seller! Such a steal! Someone should jump on them before it’s too late!

Is there anything else involved with this install or is it just a direct swap? I thought I've seen some tie rod ends needing to be changed? What's the difference between the two bolts from the side and 4 on top from Alcon?

Really want better stopping power but definitely don't want to get in over my head with an installation either. Any help much appreciated.

With the gen 2 needing new outer tie rods is 50/50. I did need them. Changing the tie rods is super easy provided you have basic tools etc. The new 4 bolt per caliper mount point is NEW, seems to be a new design, I only have experience with the older design that have the 2 mount bolts per caliper. These brakes are the 2nd best mod for the truck, first best being deaver rear springs.
