Most of the cars on that list are eclipsed by versions with larger and much more powerful engines by the same manufacturers. Big power isn't going away. We've been hearing this same old song since the late 60s. Do you follow automotive history?
All on the list are the top performance engine for that model except the 43 AMG's and Jag. No one said anything about power levels going down, it's how the power is getting made. If you think that manufacturers trending towards smaller, FI engines is an anomaly and all of a sudden bigger V8's will return, you're going to be in for a bad time.

I can see you have the time and energy to spend all day arguing about a vehicle you don't even own, so I'll leave it at that.

But who would buy an RS5 when there's the RS7? Or a Cadillac ATS when there's the CTS? A lot of the cars you listed are the starter or baby versions of the real ones on offer. They are not for enthusiasts; they are for the image conscious buyer who doesn't want to spend too much for real performance -- just wants to look like he did.

What you're not getting about your doom and gloom predictions about the future is that we were told the same thing in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and now again. I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, there's really more large displacement offerings now than there ever has been.

Oh yeah, and Ford is working on a brand spanking new DOHC 7.0 V8.

BMW is also missing from that list... M3 went from NA V8 to Turbo I6. M5 went from V10 to Turbo V8... and it's about to change again.

Virtually all of those listed have made the progression from NA to Turbo. And all of the engines are being downsized with regards to either displacement, cylinders, or both.

Get with the times, old man. You're living in the past.

Meanwhile, back in reality, BMW's top models all have V8s.
