So I did a couple searches for drill bits and fasteners and now I’m being bombarded with ads. MutualScrew.com totally sounds like a hook-up dating site though. Big letdown.

If the dealer does not put in the brackets, we use the plugs from lowes just for the holes correct?.

These are the plugs you want from Lowes. They are super tiny and look great.

Link to them on Lowes.com You can also pick them up in store. They also sell them on amazon.

I used these. They come black but I painted them to match bumper. Here is before and after pic.

What size drill bit(s) did everyone end up using to get this done? Any tips, tricks, or instructions would be awesome.

Just a follow-up, I knocked the plate removal out today.

Long story short, the plugs ZaneMasterX posted are perfect and what I ended up using. I found a 3/16 drill bit is perfect and is the only bit you need. As for paint, I couldn’t find one by the name listed above so I bought Rust-Oleum Metallic Paint & Primer In One - Black Stainless Steel. It seems to match perfectly.

so stoked to find this post, write up, pics and tips. I bought the supplies, and I'm painting the hole plugs tonight. Can't wait for them to fully cure over night, so I can install them. Thank you!
