It's about time this forum gives ME some help, so step right up. My rear defrost seems to only work when it wants. The rest of the time, it will turn on for a second and then the indicator light shuts off with an audible click.

I'm guessing there's a short somewhere...but maybe it's normal? It reminds me of when my old Raptor's seat heater shit the bed.

Does the rear defrost only work below a certain temp or something? Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems to work fine when it's really cold outside.

Mine worked intermittently for a couple weeks before it finally gave in and I got the whole rear window replaced under warranty.
Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the sliding rear window?

Well, it could be the contacts for the rear slider itself. If it senses or should I say it thinks the rear window isn't closed, the defroster won't work. Try opening and closing the window when it happens or just bumping the rear slider switch every so slightly to get it to move a little. Only resolve to that issue is to replace the whole window.

Window tint on the back glass? If so, I've seen people accidently nick a line on the glass and the whole system can go funky or not work at all.

Now that's an answer. I will check that.

These rear defrosters are a problem. Seen several that shattered the rear window and have also had experience with it just stop working. So, i turned mine off ftom remote start menu and i just never use it.
