So now my obvious next question… what is the approx cost to notch your frame?

$1K give or take.

---------- Post added at 06:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:42 PM ----------

My old 18" of travel in the rear still kicked with the best of them w/o a notched frame. Just trying to give an honest answer as I've had both LT setups in the rear. Not trying to shat on anyones parade but this is my non sugarcoated feedback, like it or not.

With that said, very cool looking product KHC. Cantalievers make a lot of sense to me. Now go notch some frames already.

My understanding is that a cantilever suspension typically works better than a simple bed cage, because the entire suspension system moves.
How so?
From my understanding is that they don't work any better and can take 10x's long to set up correctly and the only reason to run a Canti is space.

I'm having a hard time understanding how their is a final design and I'm not even sure if the parts have been in the dirt yet. I know several high end shops that have built canti set ups and spent years getting them right.

$1K give or take.

I think the highest anyone's ever quoted me was $750 and they didn't want to do the work(their words). The Sport Trac was $500 and all the pieces were laser cut for a perfect fit

You are right as far as set up time the adjustment times are alot more because of the ratios its a lot of work but they are still relitively new in the offroad world give it 10-15 years and i think alot of guys wil be running them. As far as notching the you are n there to its only a few plates to put in to do it.

So, inevitably doesn't more droop travel really equal more up travel when it comes to whoops sections? I realize that traveling on a relatively flat grade will send the axle straight up on a kicker, using available up travel quickly, but if that energy is properly controlled and the rear end doesn't kick much like a 3.0 equipped rear suspension with bump stops, doesn't the droop travel at least contribute to rear end control over the long run?

I second that motion.

There's always the first whoop... In turn, setting the truck a bit off balance for the remaining whoops.

If I was going to do either I would notch the frame. These trucks need more uptravel. Spending all the money and not gaining that uptravel seems like a waste to me. But that's just me.

Agree. Even though 3.0s, springs, and a bump kit make a huge difference, the truck still feels out of balance to me when hitting the rough stuff. The front end soaks it while the rear end bottoms out and tries to kick. It REALLY needs more up travel, not droop.

This kit is cool in the fact it gets the shocks out of the way. If it included a option for notching the frame for more up travel it would be that much better. But then the bed sides and wheel wells would need attention, specially for peeps with 37s.

Wow it got busy over here. Totally agree on the frame notch for the additional travel. 18 is for sure doable but will require reworking bump stop mounts and frame mods to name a few. This kit is design to work with all bump kits out there and most of us have them that would be interested in this set up. This way you aren't wasting the money already spent on the bump kit 1500 , 3.0s 2500 and springs 1300 we paid. As said earlier I feel this is a good middle of the road option for good travel with out all out moding the rear of the truck.

As far as the release is concerned I would love to have it out before havoc but I just don't want to rush. I want to fully test everything before I release it and with all the projects I have going on plus regular work I'm loosing my mind. You never know though I might have a kit with me at havoc if the stars align.
