Question for the group. Do you get people in other trucks driving more aggressively around you? I drive the speed limit and I have guys blowing by me, or at a red light trying to “beat me” off the line.

I’ve driven Ford trucks for the last 25 years and never experienced people reacting to my truck until I bought a Raptor. Am I paranoid, or are other drivers that intimidated?

Yes. I'm here in SC, and Ricky and Donnie can't resist the Raptor...it's like redneck catnip.

Frequency Hop to another pet peeve, one that I hate even worse than people like @NE Raptor :

People who slow down to below the speed limit, just because they see a cop, or aren’t using cruise control, and lose their nerve when passing a truck.

You’re either cruising along at a few over the speed limit in the left lane, the cop shows up on the horizon, and the guy in front of you slows down to 45.

Or, worse, you about to pass a truck in front of you, but see someone coming up fast from your rear, so you do the right thing and let them have the lane first. But, as soon as they get up to where you are, they slow down and essentially block you in.

The world better hope I never get a terminal disease, cause if I do, I’m going to become a highway folk hero.

if we’re going to totally thread-jack into driving pet peeves -
-I’m with you on the “Mr/Mrs Hurry up and slow down’
-ditto the “OMG it’s Five OH !” panic driver
-also, the “oh no you’re not passing me” passive-aggressive driver in the slow lane.

I think you missed the whole point of this post, understandable given your triggered responses here but hey there is always one in every crowd. I will still help you understand though....

The original post was this "Question for the group. Do you get people in other trucks driving more aggressively around you? I drive the speed limit and I have guys blowing by me, or at a red light trying to “beat me” off the line.

My answer and most others was YES - other guys in trucks are constantly tailgating and seemingly pulling up on the right as to challenge you to a race- in an effort to prove something. I have owned many other trucks and never experienced this. Good on you if you don't have to deal with it. I personally cant stand people on the left holding up traffic - we are talking about 2 very different things.

Try coming around the Boston area with your "cruise set on 5-6 mph over" you will get run clean off the road - troopers included. If you can get comfortable with 20-25 over you might survive. Cruise control is not even a thing people use up here, its all 2 lane stop and go in very tight areas unless you get to a major interstate away from the cities.

Cool story, bro.

One of us was “triggered” by people constantly passing us in the passing lane.

The other one was me.

Every performance vehicle get's this. I sold my modded (620WHP, 575 tq) Camaro SS-1LE to get the Raptor, but in the three years I owned it, everyone wanted to race, even the diesel ****** bags.

I haven't yet experienced it with the Raptor like I did with the Camaro, but i'm sure it's coming.

I'm new to the Raptor world but have already had several trucks try to awkwardly show off while I'm driving normal. I used to have an X5M and I guess since that has a normal SUV look people would always aggressively pull around me at a light prior to the road merging...Since they're already being jerks thinking they can cut me off I'd put up the horsepower to tell them no. I've done that once in this truck, but people generally seem to respect the Raptor more than the X5M. I also get way more compliments on the Raptor...maybe because people think BMW owners are a$$holes.

I look forward to the “fugly” truck owners wanting to try me.... I have no issue with teaching them a lesson. They say there is something to be learned in every lesson....maybe they’ll learn that the Raptor is not the truck to challenge?? A-Holes.....they all need a beatin’!

Warning, if the truck is a Ford Lightning, don't race it.

it’s not so much that we know beemerphiles are a$$holes, it’s that about 99% of them are self absorbed, inattentive, and unskilled drivers, and they navigate parking lots and parking spaces even worse. As a biker, there are no other marques on the road locally that I need to watch out for.

it’s not that we are passing you to cut you off, we just don’t want (formerly) you, brand-b operators in front of us because we know it’s going to result in a comedy of poor vehicle operation resulting in the rest of us waiting impatiently while you navigate the ins and outs of operating a cell phone, drinking your latte, putting on your makeup and trying to steer all at the same time. Now, the 1% that autocross, show up at track days, etc. are competent vehicle operators, but they’re so few within the brand-b ownership community the rest of us call them unicorns. ;)

The Raptor does generate a lot of likes from the motoring public.

I would add Subaru driver's to that list as well. Exception being WRX drivers who firmly believe they have the fastest cars know to man...
