I wonder if the continuing moisture problem is from no ventilation in the housing after it is completely sealed up with silicone? I know that some of the old headlight assemblies would get moisture in them from the hot/cold/hot/cold cycle that everyday driving causes. Would it help to silicone the top and sides of the brake light assembly and have a drain hole in the bottom so that any condensation would escape and also allow some air movement? Just throwing this out there.....

Putting silicone was a huge mistake, I knew that I had to take the light off and clean up the silicone before taking it to Ford. That light was stuck on so bad it took for ever to pry it off and then over an hour trying to get silicone off the painted area, both thumbnails were bloody from scratching it off. The light does need ventilation and will still get full of condensation when sealed up.

So ya dont trust all the advice you get off FRF

Ok so Ford is going to replace the wheel sometime today. I said to the service this must happen a lot and he said no its because the Raptor is 7 inches wider...

Thanks for the update, justvettn; I'm glad your dealership is taking care of this. If you'd like to document your feedback about this experience, send a PM my way with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, dealer name/location, and any specifics you'd like me to include.

Just got back from Ford and they ruined the brand new wheel installing it, at least this time they came and told me. So monday will be my 5th business day in a row that I have to take my truck into service.

I have a 7yr/125k ESP and getting my brake light replaced next week. I was going to silicone it but will choose not to and just let Ford to continue to replace it until my factory warranty expires and deal with it then as my deductible for the ESP is $100 and this part is only $118 shipped.

I am so glad I did not get extended warranty, could not deal with Ford service bubblings any further after this mess is cleaned up.

I would keep dealing with FORD on this site and follow up with the FORD customer hotline to get this resolved. I have had nothing but good experiences with my dealer. I promise if you raise enough hell about this issue that things will change at your dealership. They don't have a choice - one pissed off customer can actually change the way they do business at the dealerships. Good luck.....

Dealer replaced the third break light under warranty today no question asked. They also fixed the rear slider window that had stopped working. Said it was a resistor.

All in all a good day with ford motor company.

All of these 3rd Brake Light water leak threads should be merged.
After a big rain this week in Cali my 3rd brake light is leaking water again.

Was originally replaced in December 2014.

Knock on wood 2010 1/2 no problems, even drove through Sandy when she hit NJ, NY and the one big storm before that that washed away towns in the Catskills.
Hell my basement flooded with that one.

I have to question this, my truck has never seen the inside of a car wash!
Do you guys use a car wash with those heavy flapping mats scratching you paint loosening mirrors,
I bet those mats hit the third brake light just right to make them leak again.
Just a thought.
