I just purchased and installed the ****** Smart Radar. I am extremely satisfied so far. It comes with a small display that I mounted to the rear view mirror and will act completely as a stand alone unit. You also have the option of connecting via Bluetooth and using the ****** Live database. This is an amazing tool.

The detection has worked flawlessly in my opinion and picked up real signals even when in the midst of false signals. It can somehow differentiate between the frequencies.

I will post pics of install when I get back to my truck but you can hardly tell it's in there... which is a plus for prying eyes.

The Bluetooth integration was much needed and ****** has now put that feature into the "all-new Passport" and the new Passport Max2. The Max2 has the exact same performance of the previous Passport Max. The only difference is the introduction of the Bluetooth module for ****** Live and the $50 price hike.

The new Passport is promising and has better performance of the old 8500ix and 9500ix models. However, it does not have the GPS lockouts for false alarms of the 9500ix. The cool thing is it does have band segmentation now so if you really want to get it custom tuned for your area, that can definitely help you gain some distance as well.

However, even with these updates, the Redline with band segmentation and RDR off is still the best performing detector in the ****** lineup for both on and off axis detection.

the redline and 9500ci are the same detector. during my conversation with ****** recently, they said these 2 units have the best detecting capabilites.

I've been using V1s for many years, have one in each truck and one in the box on a shelf. I mount them high, against the head liner on the windshield using the provided suction cups. I have them wired into an ignition controlled circuit under the dash and leave em on all the time.

I do a lot of highway driving in the fall and this has saved me at least half a dozen times. the range is amazing, the arrows and counter allow me to check it and either change my speed or forget it knowing its not a radar to worry about.

they do trigger at some brake lights and other vehicle systems, but you get used to it and it really only bothers me in stop and go traffic (turn it off) or city driving (turn it off cause I'm not pressing the speed limit anyway)

no complaints at all.

Yes. You can turn off whatever band you want with the V1. Just have to go into programming mode. I turned off X band on mine and increased Ka sensitivity.

How do you go into programming mode? I live in California and have never seen a cop running X or K band. I turned off X by going into L mode but K is still on and always goes off thru town
