GEN 2 Question for the mall crawlers out there....

It honestly would have bothered me too but i think i could have pushed that to the side if absolutley had to and there was no other choice.

I also had my 2011 FX4 paint matched in tuxedo black mettalic by a random shop close to home and they were spot on matching a brand new plastic grille with an 8 year old paint job on the metal body. I dont claim to be an expert on anything, but i was shocked to hear how difficult it can be. Im just glad the dealership is going out of there way to attempt to make it better.

Ill be posting pictures when it comes back out of paint to showcase how "round 2" went.

I had a tux black 2011 FX4 that had a little body damage. The body shop didn't get a perfect match. It may have been undetectable to most people but it drove me nuts.

That is great news! The lighter color on the flares would have bothered me every time I looked at it.

I had the fender flares, door handles, mirror caps and bumpers painted on my Tuxedo Black Metallic Gen 1 and they matched perfectly. I do not agree with the others who said it cannot be done do to different surfaces, blah blah blah. A good paint shop can make them match...

I was told Tux Black with the different colors in the metallic was harder to match than solid colors.

On the leadfoot, there was an instagram picture posted previously in this thread which seemed to match very well...

A good paint shop will blend adjacent panels to ensure color match. To just make a blanket statement like “a good shop....” won’t change the fact that material acts differently according to the surface that was painted.

Plus, “a good shop” can match black with black pretty easy, Leadfoot is a little tougher.

Meh - I tell body shops NOT to blend. I don't want them painting perfectly good panels that don't need it, plus, I can always spot the blend and I ******* hate it. I make them match without blending as best they can. Not that I would ever paint my fender flares though.

I went with 3M wrap, cost less and can been undone for re-sale or trade purposes.

Well, here is the update from the first attempt. I'm very happy to say the product appears to be much better then the initial paint job and i feel confident that ill be happy when i see it in person someday!! Mostly just appreciative that the dealership stepped up and offered to fix it when they could have easily told me to deal with it.
