Problem with Fox 3.0

Yup. I ended up buying the Branick 7600. I've used it with the cheesy spring compressor bolts at the same time to get off the big (600lb) coil springs slowly and safely. It's another "buy once, cry once" investment so YOU choose when to work on your stuff. It's also available to the neighbors, you'd be surprised how much you can help them out in a pinch too.. There's lots of old full-size trucks up in the Hi Dez and the owners do all their own repairs.

That's sweet, best spring compressor you can get IMO, wish I had one.

I also use my spring compressor to loosen/move perch collar. I haven't had used a torch to remove caps yet.(wood knocking) Running hot water on the shock body has worked well so far for the tough ones for me. I have used a torch to get the set screws out of the cap. twice. two out of 20 caps not bad %.

I am new to the Gen 1 Raptor game. Do you all suggest to not go with the FOX 3.0 and instead go with King or a different brand?

I have about 15k miles on my Fox 3.0, no issues with them and love them. These Fox replaced Icons 3.0 I had.

In the middle of Fox 3.0 coilovers on the front and 3.0’s in the rear on my Gen 1 now. My decision came down to ride… test drove a friend w King back to back with Fox. The ride on Fox was just more “confident” on road. Both were great Offroad.
Im also adding new UPC’s (Evolution billet), new tie-rods (Fouse), and brakes/rotors. I have not replaced my rear leaf springs or added a quality bump stop. (Might when my wife stops throwing dishes from this build )

So those were the Fox 3.0 FRS vs King 3.0 PRS ("Pure Race Series") Raptor-spec shocks? Did they have similar spring rates printed on the coils? Obviously, those are both reputable brands but King has always focused on performance over everything else.

@TomDirt I did not look at spring rates and no adjustments were made, frankly wouldn’t have known what I was looking anyway. I did stay at a Holiday Inn before the test drive .
Your questions are valid I just go by the seat of my pants and sponge off guys like you that know more .
What I should say is that the Fox shock are slightly noisy on road. That doesn’t bother me much, it kinda sounds like the coin I dropped on them hitting pavement
On a serious note, I had to do an emergency pull to get my 7000# boat on trailer for hurricane Milton. I noticed my leaf springs were going when I installed my shocks; New Deaver’s are the plan but hurricanes do happen. During the shock install, I also noticed my original bump stops - 10 year old plastic foam, were crumbling so they easily came off. Here’s some pics of what a 7000# boat w 350# @ tongue, 3.0 FRS on stock setting, flat original leafs and NO bump stops,
Now I’m shopping Deaver (+3HD’s) and some complimentary bump stops to complete the suspension.
