I recently heard someone say, "back in the Bronze Age, people scoffed at proponents of iron tools." At first, I thought he was just being an *******, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that we all tend to resist change I initially — even when it's for the better and obvious if we could step back from our emotions and consider all of the known details objectively.
The 3.5 ecoboost has proven to be very reliable in the standard F-1 50, and I would expect that the beefed up version (which will probably make more power, and have a broader torque curve - likely max torque from 1800 to redline - than the current 3.5 eco) will perform even better in the Raptor. If it's performance, not durability that we crave, here's a way to get an frame that's improved over the 1st Gen.
We spend a ton of money on Fox 3.0s, Deavers, lift kits (just kidding!), upgraded control arms, etc.,. in order to improve our off-road performance, and here they are offering us about the same power, likely more usable torque, and a lot less weight to control over bumps, landing jumps, etc.
Plus, think of how much less weight you have to tote around (higher jumps, anyone?), and the new frame has been strengthened over the 1st Gen. Raptor, even though it's carrying a lot less weight with the V6 ecoboost and the lighter aluminum body.. All of this, with very similar power and more torque.
More is better, right? GIMME MORE!!!
All the best,
Dave
