I think it might be possible to sum up all your posts on this forum with 4 simple words...."I like v6 trucks".

More like "If its fast and works as intended and is better than the previous I dont care if its v8 or v6".

Would I choose a v8 over a v6 if it had more power? Yes. Would I choose a ttv8 over a ttv6? Yes. Would I choose the old 6.2 NA over the new ttv6? No.

Given the choice, I would still choose the old 6.2. Easy enough to s/c it if I wanted more power. I've already got to be close to the rumored 450 hp of the ecoboost anyways with headers, exhaust, CAI, tune, gears. The 500 lb weight difference of the Gen2 will make a difference but that's not all in the engine. I wouldn't expect you to understand though as you've never owned a Gen1 Raptor and as much as you want to believe it, your V8 Jeeps aren't comparable nor is the type of offroading you do in them.

The better poll would've been-- Will you buy a Gen 2 Raptor if there is no V8 option?

I'd have to test drive it first, unlike the 1st Gen I just orderd with out even looking at one in person close up.

Never inferred that ever, in any of my posts. Saying I own v8 Jeeps doesnt automatically make the jump to "they are exactly like a Raptor".

Thats cool if you would rather dump $8k+ into a SC over the ttv6, its your money and you can do whatever you want with it.

I think the Gen 2 will be a fantastic truck with the ttv6. I certainly do not think its "ruined" by any stretch of the word.

I apologize in advance but I'm about to do a bit of thread jacking just for a moment. Does anyone have any solid info on when the GT350's release date will be? I'm dying to see it in person.

Would you choose a V6 TT with, say 50 less HP, but 5 more MPG and cheaper sticker price?

See that is a very tricky question to be asking. To gain 50hp in a twin turbo setup is incredibly cheap and easy. Hell, you could get that with a mild tune and a new intake. Throw some new exhaust on it and you could be closer to the 75-100hp area with very little invested.

It would depend on how much cheaper the sticker price is. If it was a lot, say $5k, I could probably spend a lot less than that getting that missed 50hp and I would probably still come out a little ahead on the mpg.

If Id have to spend more on upgrades to get those lost 50hp I most likely would opt for the v8 over the ttv6.

Id honestly be torn between the two. On one hand you get the instant tq of the v8 and the proper exhaust note to go with it. You also get less parts on the v8 which is always a plus. On the other hand you can mildly upgrade a tt to get the lost power and you get better gas mileage which means more money for added toys. Im used to rigs that get 9-13 mpg so gas mileage isnt a huge concern but if you get to save a little at the pump thats never a bad thing.

If the v8 had 75-100 more HP over the ttv6, less mpg, and a slightly higher sticker price (less than say $3,500) Id go with the v8 with no hesitation.

If I only gain 50hp, less mpg, and a higher sticker price Id most likely try my luck with the ttv6.

If you dont care to mod your truck and want to stay 100% stock, go with the v8 because more power. If you dont mind throwing a couple mods on and like the idea of "newer tech" go with the ttv6.

Its a hard choice and to be honest I dont think either way is wrong.

5 more MPG on a truck like this would be huge. Combine that with the 36 gallon tank, and that's 180 more miles of range. I don't really care about the cost of fuel but I hate gas stations. Getting gas just twice a month or conceivably only once a month sounds amazing. Honestly that might be reason enough for me to opt for the V6 EB as long as it's not anemic. However if it was just a 1 or 2 mpg difference, big whoop.

I wonder what the official numbers will actually be on the Raptor ecoboost.

Raptor 6.2L was 13 city. 2015 4x4 V8 vs 4x4 3.5EB is only 15 city vs 17 city.

I'll be surprised if it's better than 15.

My truck loves gas stations. Then it gives me the opportunity to quench my own thirst by grabbing something to drink!
