Which engine would you choose in the 2017 raptor?

I was debating on whether or not to buy the 6.2L or just wait for the higher hp/tq boasting 2017. I went ahead and picked me out a nice 6.2 with low miles. Sure the V6TT has higher numbers but that's because it has forced induction. The way I see it to truly compare the two engines equally if one is FI then they both need to be. Slap a blower on the 6.2L and the numbers exceed that of the 3.5L by a good bit. That's just how I justified it. BUT, if they do end up offering a V8TT for the next gen then it's going to be hard to convince me not to trade up.

Yeah the $35 vs $50, or the 411 horse vs 450 horsepower questions are pretty much what this thread is about (although I suspect the 3.5TT is going to have 450-500+ horsepower, not a paltry 411). Of course you're going to pick the bigger one.

If I was shopping a regular F150 I'd choose the turbo 6 everytime. I don't care about a lot of power for putting around town. But in a Raptor... of course you want more power.

I suppose if we had more info it could be a more telling poll, such as (and I'm just making up numbers here):

1) Standard V6 Turbo, 500 horsepower, 16 mpg, 600 lbs, OR

2) Option V8 Turbo, 550 horsepower, 12 mpg, 850 lbs, $4,995 added cost.

In that case I might save my pennies and go with the V6.
Yeah if there was more info to go off of, the options could be more competitive. It's HPK's, they've been wrong and right. But since we have time to speculate, why not?

I think if there were two options, and the v6 ecoboost got better fuel economy and was a much cheaper option, you'd have some people choosing it over a v8.

Ford sacrificed the SVT Raptor brand to double down on its Ecoboost play.

It's gonna come back and bite them in the ass.

This would have been a better poll...

Ford may bring out an optional engine as an option to grab more money but I doubt they have to. There will be plenty of people lining up to throw their money at Ford for the 2nd gen Raptor.

All the people who are questioning $56,000+ for a 2013 with 20k miles or a new 2014 for $80,000 will just say f*ck it and wait for a new model.

I don't see Ford worrying about the no replacement for displacement crowd. Ford is betting that those who truly want the Raptor will buy it no matter what is under the hood.

I would pick at TTV8 any day over a TTV6. Why would you not? I guess if the price is $20k more than maybe I wouldn't but if it's a $5k price increase, that isn't too bad for a truck that's going to be over $50k anyway.

And 89:3 tells a lot lol. I figured it'd be a bit more even.....

I have ZERO interest in a TTv6, if that's the only option Ford offers in the new Raptor I will not be replacing my 2013 with a Raptor when the times comes for a new full size, Chevy or Toyota will very likely be getting my $. Not because I think either of those trucks are better than a standard F150, just for the simple fact that they ruined the Raptor with their stupid decision

Faster, lighter, and more powerful. Completely ruined for sure. What in the hell is Ford smokin' these days?
