ok, so here is what i found out. camping, is primitive camping only. there is no running water (use the ocean) and you need to bring everything in and take everything out. its $10 a night that you can pay when you arrive. you are free to make a reservation, however they charge an additional $8 for this. they are limited to 1,000 camping vehicles, of which about 50 reservations have been made, so there is no reason to pay the extra fee to reserve a spot.

and dont forget ALL vehicles ohv or not (trucks included) are required to have a flag to enter the dunes, as posted earlier. you do not need a flag if you are driving on the beach to enter, leave, or get to your campground site.

here are directions for those of you who might need a little help. we know our nav system sucks haha

there are 2 entrances to the dunes, you will want to take the southern entrance off of pier avenue. from 101 the best way (easiest) is to take grand ave and head west. you can stay on grand until you reach the dunes if you want you can enter here, but doing so will result in a longer drive (15mph for an additional 2 miles) when you get almost to the end of w grand ave (AT THE TRAIN TRACKS) go left. this is highway 1 head south on 1 until you get to the next light which is pier ave (about2 miles) and take a right. go straight until you see the kiosk to pay. once you enter, head toward firmer sand toward the ocean. THIS IS A 15MPH SPEED LIMIT THAT IS HIGHLY ENFORCED. A GUY GOT A SPEEDING TICKET RIDING HIS HORSE LAST TIME I WAS THERE. once you get there keep heading south ( 3-4 miles) until you see orange netting and cones preventing you from proceeding any further. look left you will see us

I've really been watching the weather. Here's the current forecast:

Looks like its gonna be a bit chilly overnight. Also, its been so dry, I don't think the river is going to be an issue...which is a relief for me after watching several of the "crossing" videos from previously wet years. Its amazing watching 5th wheels getting towed through 2-3 feet of water!

Also tides have a big impact on the river crossing so check the tide charts... Low tide is the best crossing time but thats only for vehicles very low.. But as the video shows high tide can be a problem for anyone not lifted as it can get 4 to 6 feet deep at times in some spots...
