Performance-wise mine is ok.
At first I had a huge problem with shifting up to and down to 5 from 4 and 6.
The car ****** so hard I thought someone crashed into me from behind.

Also, earlier it would shift hard but its softened now.

Thats maybe the learning process.

I sorta want to reset it now that I've got the MPT tune.

I should have put a little more info into the thread. Mine is a 2018. i bought it bone stock and i came from a Benz and Porsche. So the truck took some getting used too. Still, the 10 speed has very rough shifts finding 3rd up/down as well as 8th. I installed a CAI, and a tune from JB4. I disconnected the battery and did the reset. Ran with both AC on and AC off. Idle ETc. i still have the issues. if i put the truck in sport mode, its almost unbearable the truck can decide what gear it should be in. Holds a gear to long, then shifts at the wrong time. i smash it, it will downshift of course but then upshift before 5K?? I love the truck the the Tranny has been a nightmare for someone like me who really loves cars and driving.

Try a gearhead tune

supposedly some diesel guys get “trans only tunes” from em they’re very good w/ automatic tranny tuning

Mine is smooth as butter or crisp shifting depending on how you’re driving & mode. Will cycle through all the gears up & down

Kinda blows when you need a tune just to expect normal, non-jerky, responses from your transmission. I’ve also been lucky where I haven’t noticed anything out of the ordinary

The TSB is 18-19. I have a 17, the dealer didnt seem to want to help. But I will try another dealer.

I also have EVAP issues, so they got a lot to chew on.

Completely frivolous and baseless "lawsuit". This is ambulance chasing at it's best. There is no "known defect" that exists in the 10R, period. Here are the key phrases that make it obvious that the "class action" is completely baseless:

"A Pennsylvania driver has filed a proposed class action alleging the 10-speed 10R80 automatic transmission found in model year 2017-2020 Ford F-150s is defective"

"...the lawsuit claims 10R80-model transmissions suffer from a “common design and/or manufacturing defect” that may pose a life-threatening safety issue to drivers and passengers"

Claims harsh shifts are "Life threatening". Another indicator that the lawsuit is ********.

"Ford, the complaint says, has “refused” to recall or replace the apparently faulty transmissions despite issuing three recalls in February 2019 alone over problems with the six-speed transmissions in nearly 1.5 million 2011-2013 F-150 models."

First off, the 6R80 is a completely transmission different than the 10R. Second, the 6R80 was not "faulty". The recall was related to an issue with the lead frame. Ford stepped up and recalled the affected vehicles to replace both the lead frames as well as update the software.

"The plaintiff claims that rather than cover repairs under warranty, the automaker has told consumers in at least two technical service bulletins that the “abrupt and harsh” shifting is normal."

I would love to see plaintiff's supporting documentation for this claim. Doesn't exist.

"Consumers who have experienced the defect have reported hearing a loud “clunking” noise upon starting an affected vehicle’s engine, the suit says."

Interesting, considering that no transmission ratio is engaged in Park or Neutral - the conditions under which the vehicle can be started. More baseless claims.

"Since the 10R80 transmission was introduced and equipped in Class Vehicles, drivers have repeatedly complained about difficulty shifting"

"Class Vehicles"? Not familiar with that concocted term. I also didn't know there were issues with F-150 shift levers. Unless they're referring to the manual transmission version of the 10R, of course.

I've been deposed and have had to testify in court against plenty of these lowlife degenerate lawyers. They're after their next payday, nothing more. In many cases (especially California), even if plaintiff's council loses, the corporation they were suing still needs to pay the attorney fees. Meaning they have a win-win scenerio regardless of the outcome. The consumer? Not so much.

There are two possible issues you can encounter with this transmission, which is the same as any other transmission from any other manufacturer in the world...an internal manufacturing defect (repair/replace transmission unit), an electrical issue (diagnose and repair), or a software issue - in this case, earlier models built before mid 2018. There is no "known defect" in the design; it's the same as any other torque converter equipped, planetary gearset, clutch-to-clutch shifted, electronically controlled automatic transmission.
