Ok, I am still working on the finalized details for the dead pedal, but I have an update to put out there now for those in a hurry. The basic information right now is this. They will be available in two initial colors, "clear" (meaning, they are made of steel and will be coated in such a way to look like steel with no color) and black powder coat. We are working on offering other colors and will offer them if there is enough interest in each particular color, ie: red, white, blue, whatever. As you will see in the pics below, there are two holes for "********" it to the floor if you feel the need, but that shouldn't be necessary. Also, the attachment mentioned and shown in previous images for the piece to go around the floor mats will be available if enough people want it, fabricating that piece alone takes more than expected. THAT being said, while it is not necessary to do so, Craven is recommending that customers do in fact mount this to the floor with self tapping screws that they provide with the pedal. For most, not mounting to the floor like that should not be an issue, but for the more die hard offroaders COULD present an issue if the pedal actually moves, although the pedal is going to be extremely strong and should not move in MOST conditions if not mounted to the floor, but it should be known that if not mounted to the floor, it is possible that the pedal COULD be knocked to one side or the other under extreme situations.

The pedals will be dimpled with the holes as well. The images below show what you will receive, but they are plastidipped at this point for example use only. The initial run will be for 60 units to be made.

Also, at this point, it is only the dead pedal itself. IF there is enough interest in having a full kit to include matching covers for the other pedals.

Now for the part you've all been waiting for, the price. The price for this pedal will be $89 plus shipping.

And how much with the floor mat piece?

That has yet to be determined. They are working on that, but also waiting on feedback from this thread to determine pricing for that according to interest in it. As you know, molding that with steel or aluminum can be pricey, so fabricating them will be determined by how many folks want them and how many they produce for the first run. SO, everyone that wants that option should post that here in this thread so that we can get a closer estimate for everyone for that piece. We announced this basic pedal for everyone because of the lengthy design time involved and didn't want everyone getting pissed at us for the wait.

anyone that wants the current version should send me either a private message here on the forum or an email at [email protected] to place your order. They are having their first run of 60 now and we are taking orders now for them. Just let me know!

I'm definitely interested, but I absolutely do not want to drive self-tapping screws through my floormat so the piece that goes around the floormat seems like a must-have for those of us that want the most stable install possible if I'm understanding correctly.

Also, maybe I missed it, but is the top mounting point using an existing mounting location or does that also rely on a self tapper?

The mounting for the top mount uses an existing stud on the firewall, it doesn't use self tapping screws for that. Please note, the piece that would go around/under the floor mats still doesn't physically mount to the floor. It simply provides a way to mount to the floor around the floor mats. At least that is my impression on it. I will have Kellen come in and speak to that as well.

Well, when we tested the prototype it became clear that without bolting the pedal to the floor it will not be stable enough for the use you guys are talking about. Since it is using just the one existing firewall bolt, there is the potential for the pedal to become dislodged and pivot over towards the brake if it is not bolted at the base too.

That means that if we designed a workaround for the weathertech mats, you would still need to bolt it to the floor. This is one of the issues that has made the process take so long. We wanted to design something that would be stable without doing any permanent mounting, but we can not find a feasible way to make that happen.

Some pretty big and strong guys are going to be pushing on that thing with their whole leg. Sheet steel and a single bolt. Huh.

Definitely want one in black. Putting self taping screws through the floor mat is a fair trade off to make the pedal stable. Can't have it moving especially off road.
