Just a quick heads up for those interested if there is another group buy, I spoke to a couple of the guys at Nav-TV over the past while, and it looks like there is going to be a plug and play solution for the 2013 trucks in a month or so.

Hello Chris... I am pretty sure we are going to have a plug and play solution, but I just don't know when. We had the sample and it worked perfect, so I am pretty sure we are in the process to get more...If you have any question about our interface feel free to contact me at any time at 561-955-9770 ext. 101 or email me at [email protected]

Thanks

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your interest in our products.

First, I want to say that even though it does involve cutting 4 (or
5) wires, and tapping into 2 others, the install is actually quite
simple, and I've already had a few customers that were a bit hesitant
about this, and then they told me how easy the actual install turned
out to be...

That having been said, we may have a Plug'n'Play version available in
the next month or so, and if you're really that uneasy about cutting
wires, you may wish to wait.

Thanks,

That was the only thing holding me back from previous GB's, but if this feature is offered on the next one, I'm in for sure. Ill put this in both threads just in case.

Anybody have their dash opened already that could look at the wiring harness and see if there are any part numbers of identification? My thought would be that we could buy the male and female wiring harness sides and create our own harness that we soder the NAV-TV too vs cutting the factory wires. If you wanted to remove it, you just remove the harnesses. Now, I may be completely down the wrong path, but it seems like it could work. I just can't easily find the parts on Fordparts.com without part number(s).

I am sure Noah can probably tell us if this is even a possibility as well as tell us the part number.

I looked at Coastal Electronics lock pick and saw they had the harnesses. I called them and they said they would not sell the wiring harness alone. They had to have gotten it from somewhere.

i think you can use one for the 2012 and below. its still a standard newer ford plug, but the 2013 has a 54 pin plug that nobody else has made yet. but if you are trying to make a harness, you will need to insert the pins in the proper locations in the new plug. that radio interface harness doesnt have those wires present.

also, i need a quick update, who has received their units, and who has not? and who received a notice to pay for shipping to pick up the item? for all of those that got a notice to pay for shipping, i will refund the shipping costs to you. it was my mistake and i need to make sure that it gets cleared up properly

Ok electronic engineers... I have done some investigation, but don't know enough if this is possible or not.

I took apart my truck and look at part numbers. Here is what I found (pics below -- zoom!!):
Truck side harness = 1924338-1
Radio side connector = 2035239-1

I have found them both online from distributors; both are Tyco Electronic parts. I am trying to see if I can convince them to allow a prototype of a harness and not buy the minimum amount of $200.
Truck side harness = QComponents
Radio side connector = 2035239-1 Product Details - TE

Now, how do you take those parts and make a harness? My assumption is that you have "pass thru" wires for all 54 pins and don't cross them at all. One could then also tap the Nav-TV into the appropriate slots directly, so it comes in and out.

Does anyone have any experience with stuff like this that may be able to help if I can get connectors cheap. From what I can tell, the connectors are about $2 a piece, so if we figured out how to do this electronic work, and in a large qty of people, we could have this fairly inexpensively.

Now, my additional thought is to buy a Coastal Lockpick full unit, and then use that harness to wire into. Does anyone have a need for the actual Costal Lockpick "unit" itself if I were to do this as an option to see how well that works??ge5u3u8e.jpg

so nav-tv says that they are working on the plug and play harness for the 13's. just as was stated before. however, they told me that they might not sell just the harness. the assume that the units already out have been installed and there is no reason to sell them. i told them that there are a few people who are waiting for this harness to do the install and he said he will get back to me when he finds out. they could not give me a price either. i have to thank you guys, when i called and gave them my account info, they immediately recognized who i was and said, "oh yeah, you are the guy who orders a ton of raptor stuff, we hear about your orders" haha.

also, i need an update as to who has not received their units. i can not get info from the post office until i have an exact number of units missing. also, please post if you had to pay for shipping. the price included shipping and since a few got sent without shipping labels, a couple have been returned, and a couple have been sent. i need to know who.

Well, gave up wanting this MOD done, and just said screw it, and installed it today. I was actuallyl going to take the $350 hit to order the Coastal and use their harness to splice into, and report back to FRF, but they didn't have any in stock.

The install went pretty well after I had to figure out how to best run the wires and then connect them. I decided to soder the wires to ensure as good a connection as possible, considering there should be some rough terrain this truck travels. The only thing I ran out of time doing was to hook up the 2 wires going to the front camera. Everything else seems to operate just fine.

Still wish that the MFT would allow playing videos from iPhone via USB. The damn thing would be perfect to play a movie off my iPhone5 when traveling, still allowing charging and of course phone. When someone figure this out, let me know! I have to keep my old iPad1 around for now to play movies from, as I have the 30pin to RCA connection cable I'll use.....
