My neighbor has a automotive shop and he installs gps/engine shut offs for high ratio loan companies. The assumption is most of their clients will default and they can then collect the vehicle or turn the vehicle off until they pay up.

If that's not it, its a police agency, wife, business partner etc. That said police agencies normally install them under the vehicle.

If this occurred to me I would not be posting or speaking about this until I had clarification.

at least they fused the connection.

seriously....if you didn't sign a high risk loan.....and only the dealer has had the car......someone has some explaining to do

I doubt it was any police/gov agency. I used to be in that line of work, we always put them under the vehicle and they had their own power source. It was most likely the dealer trying to scam you for some money by charging you for a "security tracking device", wouldn't be the first time I've seen that.

Yeah, I don't think I'm a high threat target being a local business owner in a small town. Everyone knows where I live and what I eat for each meal.

Oh, and my wife and I work, eat, play together 24 hrs a day. We've been inseparable for almost 3 decades.

Some of ya'll watch too much tv.

Haha, well as long you're not secretly a terrorist I'd bet on it being another typical dealer scam.
