I noticed the same thing, and it pissed me off too.
I don’t want some half-assed Chinese metal used in something as critical as a wheel. My problem with China is that they don’t seem to have any regard for human life. I mean, they put melamine in baby formula and toothpaste, so do you really think they are all that careful in formulating aluminum alloy? If Ford gave me a choice to pay, say $200.00 more for American made wheels I would have paid it.

Not just the fact that the quality is not there, but it's more good US jobs going to china because Ford and every other big company in the US are looking for the lowest bidder. We are just F ing ourselves sending our money to other countries! Things would maybe cost more overall, but as a country we would be keeping the money here! IMFnO

Unfortunately, the USA does not manufacture much anymore. It really says something when a US cCpmpany can build and ship a product cheaper than it can be made in this country.

I guess the question is is made in the USA worth the price difference? If so I would think US companies would make it here.

There is a two-part explanation for this:
- government regulations
- unions

Unfortunately this is the result of unions and US Government regulations.

Ford contracts out to the lowest bidder. So that Chinese company had the lowest bid just like almost everything else on your truck that Ford did not make or assemble.
