i guess they fixed it. mine doesnt, nor does my fathers. it skips 2 & 4 normally and holds gears a little longer when its cold.It hunts for gears! There are multiple threads on this site with owners complaining! Just type it in the search bar and get ready for a evening of reading
Wait I just saw one with a camera on the front...I didn't think they had this back then...Can anyone tell me how it compares to the Gen 2 cameras? This is one thing I liked most on my gen 2 that I had...
If I get one without a front camera is this something I could add?
The 2013/2014 models had heated/cooled seats and front/rear cameras available as well as a stronger rear frame. They are easy to update to Sync 3. Same with the new steering wheel and paddle shifters. I have all of the above in mine. With respect to power, with a Whipple and a few additional bolt ons, the Gen 1 makes well beyond Gen 2 power levels. Well beyond.
I've had my 2013 since new and it has been supercharged since 2015. Never even gave the Gen 2 a second thought once I heard they were putting the Ecoboost in it.
Don't get me wrong, though. Aside from the engine issues, the new trucks are great. They are lighter, get slightly better fuel mileage, and you don't have to worry about your cab corners rusting. If none of those things are deal breakers for you, then your choice is clear.
Better get looking, though. It's getting harder and harder to find clean low mileage Gen 1s. They are in very high demand.
Sync 3 is a $2000 upgrade with no warranty. You act as if a Whipple is a simple upgrade; it is certainly not a "bolt on", and you risk engine failure any time you add F/I to an engine that was never factory equipped nor designed for it. The cost is also an $8-$10K at minimum. Please provide a legitimate source regarding your statement that the "rear frame" was "stronger" in 13/14.
You've made that much obvious. Apparently you have an inferiority complex; nobody else on here exhibits the ridiculous, unsubstantiated bias you do toward a different engine configuration. You seem very insecure.
Engine issues? Please elaborate. You don't work in the industry, you don't have any basic understanding of engines design or engine performance, and you don't have any data nor any sources to substantiate your claim of "engine issues". There is a thread of a single concern regarding camshaft phasers on 2017-2018 models, which has been addressed with new parts that can be replaced by a dealer in less than one day. Stop trying to pollute the minds of forum members with your misinformation, unsubstantiated claims, and ridiculous conspiracy theories.
