The 10 speed only uses about 6-7 gears under normal driving. It’s still early but so far it’s been good. It doesnt hunt for gears either.

It hunts for gears! There are multiple threads on this site with owners complaining! Just type it in the search bar and get ready for a evening of reading :smiley-face-popcorn

i guess they fixed it. mine doesnt, nor does my fathers. it skips 2 & 4 normally and holds gears a little longer when its cold.

you stated the ecoboost was the wrong engine choice for the raptor, what would have been the correct one in 2017?

Wait I just saw one with a camera on the front...I didn't think they had this back then...Can anyone tell me how it compares to the Gen 2 cameras? This is one thing I liked most on my gen 2 that I had...

If I get one without a front camera is this something I could add?

I’m reading your posts and I’m puzzled. It sounds like you want late tech over the old school Ford V8. But you want a V8 due to its exhaust note. And your trying to get late model tech that’s nonexistent without dumping a lot of money into an older truck and retrofitting it in there.

I know you had a Gen 2. Did you check out and drive any Gen 1’s from private sales? I think you need to really analyze what is truly most important to you. If you want to mod the hell out of an older truck and looking to dump a lot of money into it and enjoy the process, then a Gen1 project maybe for you.

I’ve been around people who want to and have built/heavily modded vehicles. 1/3 to half of them down the road get into and build it differently than they should have once they get the initial thrill out of there system.

I only suggest you take the time and decide what you want and what’s most important to you now and later down the road.

Good luck and enjoy which ever way you go. Both can be fun.

My most recent post was me saying that the Gen 1 is what I can now afford...So I'm looking at gen 1. I didn't feel like starting a new thread asking about random things about what I can do to the gen 1. I will do this once I buy one.

For me, test driving a vehicle doesn't matter. Never has. I know what I like and once I drive it I want it. Simple as that. Right now I am looking for info on Gen 1 Raptors since I know all about Gen 2.

The 2013/2014 models had heated/cooled seats and front/rear cameras available as well as a stronger rear frame. They are easy to update to Sync 3. Same with the new steering wheel and paddle shifters. I have all of the above in mine. With respect to power, with a Whipple and a few additional bolt ons, the Gen 1 makes well beyond Gen 2 power levels. Well beyond.

I've had my 2013 since new and it has been supercharged since 2015. Never even gave the Gen 2 a second thought once I heard they were putting the Ecoboost in it.

Don't get me wrong, though. Aside from the engine issues, the new trucks are great. They are lighter, get slightly better fuel mileage, and you don't have to worry about your cab corners rusting. If none of those things are deal breakers for you, then your choice is clear.

Better get looking, though. It's getting harder and harder to find clean low mileage Gen 1s. They are in very high demand.

It is a good way to get into a Raptor without the huge price tag of a Gen2. Plus if your a major V8 fan (who doesn’t like them), you get that. Not to mention at this point you can mod the hell out of it and not worry about burning your factory warranty. The last couple of years, saw good newer features added, which is nice.

Sync 3 is a $2000 upgrade with no warranty. You act as if a Whipple is a simple upgrade; it is certainly not a "bolt on", and you risk engine failure any time you add F/I to an engine that was never factory equipped nor designed for it. The cost is also an $8-$10K at minimum.

You've made that much obvious. Apparently you have an inferiority complex; nobody else on here exhibits the ridiculous, unsubstantiated bias you do toward a different engine configuration. You seem very insecure.

Engine issues? Please elaborate. You don't work in the industry, you don't have any basic understanding of engines design or engine performance, and you don't have any data nor any sources to substantiate your claim of "engine issues". There is a thread of a single concern regarding camshaft phasers on 2017-2018 models, which has been addressed with new parts that can be replaced by a dealer in less than one day. Stop trying to pollute the minds of forum members with your misinformation, unsubstantiated claims, and ridiculous conspiracy theories.

It's easy to get this done a lot cheaper if you're willing to look around for the parts. There have been several good threads on this over the years.

You're welcome :)

And you seem to like ad hominem arguments.
