Welcome to the mayhem!!

Being one of the newer guys around here, I quickly learned to do a little research before asking ANY advice - especially when starting a thread! That opens you up to a lot of comments that you may not want to see. But the veterans here make a good point. I don't think that the Raptor may be your best option. We are not that worried about mpg, flashy big wheels, curb feelers, etc. We are off-roaders and could care less about how good our mpg is between work and play. The 2017 will still be an off-road truck with capabilities and equipment that won't allow it to compete with other trucks regarding mpg. These trucks are the one's everyone points at and says "look at that beast!". So, in my humble opinion, I would stick with the FJ and spend a little money on a good mpg car. Sounds like that might be your best option for saving some money. As the saying goes - THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE RAPTOR IS JUST THE DOWN PAYMENT FOR ALL THE STUFF YOU BUY TO MAKE IT BETTER.

Thank you for the reply, and I get all that. if you look at my build thread for the FJ you will see I am also an off-roader, and am not creating a mall crawler. My mods are for performance.. and larger tires= more clearance. So it is a valid question. Yes, you buy stuff to make Raptors better, again, I am used to that.

Now lets not kid ourselves here. You ALL care about the truck looking good, as do I. That is the whole damn point otherwise we would all own old beaters and mod them out. You even said it yourself These trucks are the one's everyone points at and says "look at that beast!". Which, I know and am used to. Not a day goes buy where someone isn't taking a pic of my FJ, and I plan to do the same with the Raptor.

Do I and have I used the search function? Yes. But things change and get updated. Maybe I am lazy, but I do not want to sift through years of posts, most of which will be irrelevant and contain posts by a bunch of dooshers, such as this one.

Well, so much for trying to be politically correct and polite. You, sir, will have a long a fruitful experience on this forum. I wish you luck and I will do my best to not be a doucher to guys that just join and start shit their first day out. Good luck getting any useful help with this thread.....

Sorry for stirring up the bee hive, I just expected more since I have heard more people excited about the new v6 than against it in person. I should have figured more purists would respond than helpful individuals on an internet forum.

My only question is why would you be concerned about current gen issues if you plan on purchasing a 2nd gen Raptor? They would be more relevant questions if you were looking for current used model.

It's pretty much trial by fire on this forum so brush it off and dish it out. Welcome aboard.

Not quite sure how I started shit?

Also.. if you feel I was calling you a *****, then I can't help you there. I was referring to the initial posts. I was stating as a fact, that many of the posts where people are looking for help, contain nonsense posted by people who want to be a keyboard warrior rather than helpful.
