Yes, I agree, most Raptor owners sip latte's, so I guess, your logic is, most people think the R version will have massaging, fully reclining seats, self driving mode so they can apply their lipstick, 30inch tv screen mirrored on the windshield so they can watch "Jersey Housewives", heated/cooled arm rest, massaging foot pedals. Oh gosh, I'm getting carried away, Ford, please don't do this to the R!!
A bit of an exaggeration here. But yes, a lot of people don't want to spend 65k+ on a vehicle and not have leather seats.

maybe I'm stupid, but if Raptor Rs are looking like 150K, maybe start looking at the classifieds on racedezert. 150K will get ya a whole lot of boogie. ( hell, you could buy a full Luxo prerunner or a nice used trophy truck for that money. )

and yes, all of the "real" desert vehicles in that price range (used), come with a V8.

If you want to know what you should REALLY buy, take a look at the vehicle that people have AFTER they sell their "built " raptor. Lifehack: skip to what they buy after the raptor and you'll save yourself a whole lotta time, money and headache.

Here are some numbers from the TRX side that are a useful hint for what Ford will do with the R.

The TRX comes in 3 trim levels, with price ranges shown depending on other options added:

- Base (about 70-75k)
- Level 1 (75k-85k)
- Level 2 (85k-95k)

To date, about 10,500 TRXs have been built. Here is the split between the packages:

- Base: 415 built, or 4% (!)
- Level 1: 1334 built, or 13%
- Level 2: 8840 built, or 83%

As you can see, there is virtually no market for a base TRX. The vast, vast majority of TRXs built are loaded.

If Ford looks at these numbers, it is hard to justify offering an R that is anything less than loaded.

I still stand by my prediction that the R will NOT be offered with 37s, and will be priced 10-15k above a loaded 35s... so about 90k.

It depends on the particular feature/option. It doesn't cost Ford anything to have an option for panoroof, sound system, and a few other options since they are already options on other trims, and there's no difference between trims. For features/options that would cost to provide, then you'll get one option only. For example, you'll only get one seat option (probably blue), one wheel/tire choice, possibly only applique (if there is R specific badging). What the majority of buyer's want won't be the only reason an option is or is not available.

But I do agree that if/when Rs show up on lots, you aren't going to fine a barebones version (even if that version is pretty loaded)

So what are most people getting after their built Raptor?

generally, a truck that is Linked, a buggy, a heavily modified utv, or full-blown racecar.

I'll start working on a center-mount truck next. Something in the 24-26" front travel, 28-32" rear travel range. Full tube chassis with a cab on it. I'm leaning towards using one of the camburg kinetik trucks Trophy truck "kits" .

I was sold on my Raptor because of the videos Ford put out showing it racing through the desert and in the dunes, I already had a new f150, but went googleee-eyed when the advertising started, had nothing to do with luxury, in Canada you couldn't get a lower tiered Raptor like you guys, it came with leather, etc, only options were sunroof and nav and I think the trailer brake. Plus they were marketing the Raptor R back then and when a fully loaded Raptor was 58k (Canada) and the Raptor R (xt) was going to be 100k US, it wasn't just more horsepower either, it was loaded with offroad equipment, lights rollbar, etc. Here we are 12 years later and Ford is talking about a Raptor R again and maybe they will just add a V8, but at least you know where my brain fart idea is coming from. I would think Ford, if they produce the R, will do more than what Dudge is doing and make it a Dudge Killer, not an equal.
Cool. So you're a past racer or you currently race your Raptor?

I’m no racer, been on a couple runs, but was more into quads and dirt bikes until I went to the dunes and got stuck on the “dune life”. Then I wanted a bigger toy to play. On a side note, my dealer warrantied everything when my raptor was new, you could show them videos of your truck jumping dunes, etc and they were all excited, now a days you put different rims on a raptor and they deny warranty, times have changed a bit.

One of the dealers I was speaking with about ordering a Gen 3 mentioned that they will be putting a 50K ADM on the 1 R allocation they expect!

Ford isn't stupid, they will make more of these are R's than most think. Still limited, but many dealers will get well more than one unit, I assure you. Like the GT500, dealers look to cars like this to pad the bottom line, since the rest of the cars are pure commodities ****** to volume unit moves. This will not be a one year and done by any means.
