I think I'll add this to the mod list.

I'm under 2,000 miles currently with 100% of it being on pavement, I'm assuming a Sea Foam would be unnecessary. Correct?

Also, as BMart mentioned, is there a risk of going off-road and shaking up this catch can and all that trash ending up in the intake anyway?

Greg - Any update on your oil analysis before/after this addition?

Seafoam or similar would be a waste of money at 2000 miles. At 5000 and every next five I'd put a fuel treatment in it like BG 44k or Chevron with Techron fuel system cleaner. At 20000-30000 you might look at doing a seafoam treatment. It's also helps to run the engine harder on occasion.

If you keep the left over oil in the catch can at a low level, I don't see it making its way back up and into the pcv system. Even during hard off roading.

I did my oil change at 5,800 on Saturday. My passenger catch can had about a tea spoon of oil. The drivers side, still completely dry. I purposely overfilled the oil in my truck to see if it'll push any oil into the catch cans. And by overfilling, I mean I put 8 quarts in aka 2 gallons of oil. We'll see what happens.

Thank you for your reply. I've always stayed away from fuel system treatments. Think they're really worth it? You're a Ford Tech so I trust your judgment.

Hmm...I always thought overfilling was a bad idea.

Some treatments work, and some not so well. The BG 44k and Chevron treatments do work pretty well. I've used both in all my vehicles and think is worth spending the money on. I try to do one or the other every 5000 or so miles.

Techron has a concentrate and a watered down version. Buy the concentrate. But I guess if you only fill up with chevron gas you'd be good.

Pirate, what are your thoughts about seafoam?

Seafoam works. Gm had a really good top end cleaner that we would use on Cadillacs all the time because old people would never open them up. I know they still sell it but don't know if its the same formula or not. This was like ten years ago.

I think execution of how the cleaning is performed is more important than what brand you use.
