It's not improvements in the oils that have led to longer OCIs- it's the massive improvement to the PCV systems compared to 30 years ago.

I still do it every 5K. Easy to remember. 30K, 35K, 40K etc.

Changing your oil more often won't prevent your defective crank from snapping in half though :)

Picking it up next week. I feel like I have been saying that for 60 days. I asked for a few things to be done. All new oil lines and anything that may have touched that grenaded crank shaft. I have just been extremely busy and stressed with other things. Damn.

@Donovan it may have been answered (maybe in another thread?), but I didn’t see where a cause was attributed for the crank failure.

Was it simply a defective crank, or possibly the harmonic balancer?

Hey brother -

Unfortunately this was never determined. I am just excited to be back beating v6 Camaros from a dig.
