SW for me as well full system. I think there is a break in period it sounds better now than it did when first new there is only 400 miles on it and don't think it will change any more. I have the S-type mufflers and getting the option to delete cat so I can if I want to.

This is a subject that has been discussed many times in great depth. Might I suggest a search of the key terms you wish to become educated on. A suggestion --use the term "programmer" rather than "chip". Programmers have been used for many years replacing the "chips" that were used in the 80's and early 90's.

I have the Stainless headers, x pipe set up like beerman. They are awesome!!!! dont listen to 6.2 as his ranger has 3 cylinders, you need an x pipe for back pressure. Stainless Works is the way to go.

That was a little uncalled-for. 6.2 may not have a raptor but he sure as hell knows more about them then most of us..he was giving his opinion of a "true" duel which I agree with his opinion.

Exactly lol and personally I don't agree and feel a true dual system can still be x-piped, but it doesn't really matter what type of vehicle he owns as it doesn't pertain to the topic.

At least you gave him some suggested search terms though. That's what always ticks me off about someone who just says "Use the Search button" without any other hints. If everyone knew everything about everything, there would be no need for enthusiasts forums. Learning and helping others learn is why most of us are on these sites. :peace:

I'm going to do my usual against-the-grain, upstream, nonconformist thing here. Those of you who have spent hundreds on cat-backs and more than a thousand on headers will probably not appreciate this, but please be assured that I am not trying to hack you off. I simply have a different opinion and a conservative approach. With that said...

I can identify nothing in particular wrong with the factory exhaust system on my 2011 6.2L. It sounds awesome when I put my foot in it. It doesn't drone when I don't have my foot in it. It passes gas just fine. Maybe it's heavy, but the truck weighs 6,006 pounds, so if I lose a couple pounds from the exhaust it makes absolutely no difference in terms of weight. A cat back system might get me a couple bhp at WOT, but the amount of time I spend at WOT is all but zero. There appears to be absolutely nothing wrong with the factory tubes, so the very most I'd do is replace the factory muffler with a Magnaflow #12388 muffler, and I haven't managed to convince myself that I need to do even that.

I'm all about fixing and modifying things that need it, but I'm also a don't-fix-it-if-it-ain't-broke kind of minimalist. Read the mods I've done to my truck and you'll see that I'm not particularly shy about it, but I haven't seen the need to mod the exhaust. If somebody has before and after dyno runs with the only change being a cat-back system, I'd be very, very interested to see them.

People mostly do it for sound, any if any gains are mostly just added bonus'

If you're doing it for sound, I wonder what long tubes, true duals with no X pipe to flowmaster race mufflers would sound like.
